Help - planning trip to CP

I am planning a vacation at Cedar Point with my 8 year old son. We both love coasters, the bigger the better.
Questions:
1 - I'm thinking of spending 3 fulls days. Want to go to Soak City at least once. Is that enough overall time, too much, not enough?
2 - Is it smart to wait till the last week of August for the smaller crowds, or would end of July be ok. Will be going mid-week either way, not weekends.
3 - What is weather like last weeks of July and August?

I believe that it's enough time for you to enjoy the point. Since I don't stay more than a day, I am able to enjoy the point in just one day. However, I'm sure if I had one more day, I could enjoy the point more. 2 days is good for the park because you won't have to rush to get everything done and Soak City is good to spend one day at. So the amount of time you picked is good. I believe that you could go either the last week of July or August. The crowds don't really effect my trips and I've never taken a trip when I couldn't ride everything in one day. So don't worry so much about the crowds, but if you do worry, then maybe do the last week of August and hope many kids will be restarting school and choosing to go during the middle of the week is good also. The weather is unpredictable with Cedar Point. One day it will be really nice and the next you'll get a storm. Basically because it's surrounded by Lake Erie so weather can change very easily. The temperature is always nice, but varies. I have gone during both these times and I've had temperatures of the 70 degree range all the way up to the 100 degree range(Fourth of July last year). Keep an eye on the weather about 1 week before you go and plan for everything. You never know how soon weather can change. But, just go when you think it's best and either way you'll enjoy yourself. It's very hard to not have fun at Cedar Point, even if the crowds are big and the weather is bad. You'll enjoy the coasters here Ron because they're all very big and I think the best around.

If you want less crowds, the decision between the last week of July and the last week of August is easy. While the July is the peak month for crowds, the last week of August is usually dead (almost no one there). That would be a great time to go.

The weather is very predictable in the summer! Its either going to be 90, or its going to be raining, thats it, one or the other. lol

And since your going mi-weekd, no matter when you go the lines will be down.

I, too am interested in crowds as I will be visiting earlier than I ever have. But, Ya just can't predict those.

Just go and have fun. The rest will fall into place.

Keep in mind that while the crowds may be somewhat less during the last week of August, the park closes at 8pm---no late night rides on the Millenium or Dragster (unless you get in line at 7:59pm)!!!

The next to last week in August can be busy. School in the area starts the week before Labor Day usually, so that's definitely better. Either week is still much better than any Saturday. During the week in May is great. Though I would suggest avoiding the Friday that is Physics Day for area schools.

We usually stay 3 or 4 nights when we go. It is possible to ride everything in one day, but with kids it takes a little longer, so two days in the park is perfect. We usually spend one whole day at Soak City and any remaining free time is spent on the beach, playing miniature golf, or eating ice cream at Beaches 'N' Cream (Ice cream parlor at the Hotel Breakers). We try to make it relaxing while fitting everything in.

Did that.. bought the T-Shirt. I call ahead and find out in advance when that or other 'special' days are.

I have went at various times throughout the summer, and I have never had a problem riding all the rides that I wanted to.

I was there in the last week of July and wait times for Millie were 1 hr, Raptor/Mantis 40 mins, Maggie 10-30 mins. It wasn't too bad.
