Delayed Announcement?

So Jeff, while the ride is exciting I am still interested in all of the behind-the-scenes debate about when the ride should be announced.

In your opinion, what was the main reason for waiting until this point?

To build the excitement no doubt had to be one key point...

Main reason? Power play and the inability to let your people do what they're good at. That's my "guess."

Did CP specifically say they held off on the announcement when they saw all the speculation going on, and the free advertisment it was bringing?

Well, I considered that but...other than enthusiasts, I wonder how much buzz there was out there prior to the announcement.

-Oops-Sorry, that was my response to Spartan. I figured it had something to do with non-P.R. people influencing the decision but I wasn't really sure.

There was tons of coverage outside of the enthusiast community, but it was mostly local in nature. Fox 8 in Cleveland had a multi-part story covering the construction and non-announcement. The Plain Dealer also ran a similar story.

It was said that they were planing to announce much sooner. But after they saw all the buzz at the park during Halloweekends they pushed back the announcement.

I think it was an ok idea to delay it, but I think they could have gotten the same reaction out of people if the said this a few months ago. And maybe they would have gotten a little more talk. But really I don't think it matters too much, word will spread even with the shorter time.

I worked at MiA this past summer and I was told in August when some CF execs were visiting the park that the announcement would be in January. They did it that way because they knew people would be talking and speculating about it all of the time. It was just a scheme to build the hype...nothing more, nothing less.
