Which coaster has the least ridership from the GP?

Excluding Woodstock Express which coaster gets the least ridership? Mean Streak? Gemini? Corskcrew? Blue Streak? Some coasters like Magnum, Raptor, MF are obviously continuing to hold their popularity but rides like Man Streak seems to have shorter lines than most of the coasters.

Gemini by far gets the most. It's consistantly the most popular ride in the park number wise.

I would wager to guess that Corkscrew and Mean streak are down pretty far on the list.

When the VM survey results come out in a couple of weeks, I think it will validate your guess on Corkscrew.

Gemini by a couple hundred thousand riders always has the highest numbers of any coaster (2,439,934 in '01) followed by either Magnum (2,130,694 in '01) or Raptor (2,171,280 in '01) and MF (I believe ~1.9 million in 2001)will probably be fourth again this year.

I believe that for 2001, the coasters that had the biggest decline were Corkscrew and Mantis. It has also been said that Mean Streak loses ridership each year which would make sense since on closing train they were running 1 train with a platform only wait (don't ask me why I had to wait 10-15 minutes to ride that - it wasn't very typical of CP, but that's another thread). All three of these still gave over a million rides in 2001.

Heck, even Blue Streak gave over 988,000 rides in 2001. This is amazing to me considering that Steel Force at Dorney supposedly didn't deliver its one millionth ride for 2002 until closing day. Definitely a tribute to the efficient operations at Cedar Point. One of the reasons I keep on going back to CP is that I know that no matter how big the crowd, I can still get a fair amount of riding done thanks to crews that work hard and great park operations in general.

On my visit in 2001 I waited at the most 5 minutes for the front and back seat on Mean Streak! MF has been averaging a hour

I would say Corkscrew not because its old. Just beacuse of the horrible shape its in. I wont ride it beacause the entire first hill is just caked with grease and needs to be repainted very badly. Also it is very very rough if you just stand and watch people on it from the ground on the 2 corkscrews you can see their heads banging. ouch!

You won't ride corkscrew because it has a bad paint job? That's gotta be the the most ascenine reason for not riding Corkscrew I've ever heard!

Believe it or not, Corkscrew is one of the better maintained Arrow looping coasters around. Even compared to MIA's Corkscrew it's wonderfully maintained.

I wont ride it beacuse it is way too headbangy. I just stated that the coaster is realy starting to show its age.

I would have to disagree with Mantis having low ridership. What do you think the crowd that gathers for Millennium Force spill into? Mantis' queue is always filled pretty well.

As far as Corkscrew goes, the ride is (A) an Arrow coaster. The fact that it still functions is a miracle. It was also made in 1976, its old...an old Arrow that still works, thats a good thing. Shockwave was built in 1988 and it had to be torn down.

Mantis's queue is always full because the dispatch times on that coaster are horrible. With that said, Mantis probably wouldnt have a high throughput of people.

Corkscrew ridership dropped big time last year. My theory behind this is the drop was a result was a change in the policy where now you can't take any items on the ride, so they must be stored in a locker or left with another person. Problem is lockers are $.75 and the nearest ones are now by Magnum. I doubt someone with an item is going to waste 10 minutes and .75 to ride corkscrew.

A little off topic here, but isn't it asinine, not ascenine?

I think that with the new coaster next year, right across from Corkscrew, there will be substantially more riders for it...just like with what happened with Mantis. There is almost never a time when that queue isn't partially full.

Why, yes. Yes it is asinine.

I think CP should remove Mean Streak and build a good woodie since they have very little VACANT land for the type of coaster which requires a ton of land! Woodies take more space and they need a top 5 woodie with NONSTOP airtime from start to finish something they obviously lack! My Ben Hur Racer idea would fill a void since it would be a much larger woodie based on HP's Lighning Racer racing AND dueling woodie concept with a more extreme ride!

Actually, I like both Mean Streak, and Corkscrew. The front seat delivers some of the best ejector air anywhere (even better than Magnum!) However, they both have very low ridership.

MDOmnis,

Out of fairness to Dorney Park, If you go there on a hot, sunny day in July most Steel Force trains may have 6 people on them until like 2 or 3 o'clock.

The water park is usually loaded in all directions... (I think this coming year's capital program is absolutely brilliant, they will rake in the $$$.) I can honestly see how a ride like Steel Force would struggle to do over a million people.

I got a pop of airtime on a one-click ride in the back seat of Mean Streak once. It was just enough for me to feel about 40 pounds lighter though, that was it.

Which drop was it on? I rode MS in August 2001 and got some air in the back seat on the last hill before the infamous midcourse brake run. But that is just a one trick ride to me! Since everyone here have seen my Ben Hur Racer(and DUELING don't forget dueling) idea everyone knows what I think CP needs by now!

The numbers will be changing this year because gemini will never be able to run 6 trains again once they put air gates on the platform so I would say that coaster wise Raptor will probably have the most riders for the next couple of years unless they build something that has a hight capacity.

Again that's why they need my Ben Hur dueling woodie! Higher capacity!!
