Valley Fair

I was looking at Valley Fair's website and noticed that they are getting a Wicked Twister like impulse coaster. According to the picture it looks exactly like Wicked Twister but with only twisting spike, and it's name is Steel Venom. I am very surprised they just didnt't clone Wicked Twister because it even has the same colors. It's top speed is different to Wt's top speed to. I would of thought they might as well cloned it becasue WT is so fun and the only double twisting impulse coaster.

The photo they have of Steel Venom is just a doctored photo of WT. Just look PT in the background. Also, there is a support in the way of the back spike, where the train would go. I think that it will have the same type of supports as the S:UE model.

Steel Venom's color scheme isn't the same, either.. rather than the teal supports, it will have periwinkle blue supports.

I think the straightened out spike in the back was intentional. If not for the problems WT has had, then for the sake of CP being the only park with a double-twisting impulse.

You mean to tell me that they didn't take a picture of a ride that's not built yet? Wow!

Yes Big Jon, that is a fake picture, it's no secret, they even say at the bottom of the picture that it's not the actual ride, just what it will look like. Also if you look at the back spike, the way it's drawn, the train would crash right into the supports.

I saw that same pic of it in AT. They just took Wicked Twister (from the beach) and made the back spike straight. Then, when I was standing in line to get into CP for closing day, we were talking about it and somebody said that its supposed to be like a scorpion where the "vertical" tower is supposed to go almost horizontal while the front tower still twists. Imagine the view from being almost upside down for longer than .1 seconds!

They didn't take WT and change anything....WT is a custom Intamin Impulse while S:UE, SFGAM's VV and SV are all the standard model.

Of course, they could have taken a pic of SFGAM's VV and colored the supports a lighter shade of blue, but I don't think their competition would be too happy 'bout that.

The VF ride will be exactly like SFWoA's Superman and SFGAm's Vertical Velocity.

That's what I had thought until I was told otherwise. I looked @ the pic again and it doesn't look like it could be that scorpion thing after all.

Edit: Never listen to people who are waiting in line with you, especially if you don't know them.

Besides the straight rear spike and the shorter height, there's a lot less twist to a standard issue Impulse as opposed to CP's WT. The extra 120 degrees of rotation (540 instead of 360) give WT a lot more kick.

At first, I was really POed that VF didn't get a WT clone until I actually rode WT. SV is a much better fit for the fine folk of Wussyville who still squeal in horror at VF's WT (Wild Thing, not Wicked Twister).

CPlaya, WT's twist is actually only 90 degrees more than the standard Impulses. Wicked Twister is 450 degrees, not 540.

450, 540....anyway, unlike 10'-12' extra feet of height (say, CP's shorter PT vs. VF's) it's a huge difference in ride experience.

The 'uffda'-squealing, hot-dish chomping locals would be crawling off a WT clone (yes, CP's WT not VF's WT) on their hands and knees. They haven't exactly cut their teeth on a Raptor or Mantis. For crying out loud, the Corkscrew's still the only looping coaster...
