AAA day for michiganders
The real question is whether or not the AAA offices of Ohio will sell them to non-AAA Ohio members, since, technically, we are NOT members of AAA Ohio, but AAA Michigan. Membership benefits vary from AAA club state to state--and this is one benefit that would appear (on the surface at least) to be exclusive to Ohio residents.
Note also that the official annoucement at www.cedarpoint.com lists only AAA Ohio in both graphical (the logos) and textual (the "Who") format--not just AAA at large.
Since this is an event with limited ticket availability, it would not surprise me if these AAA clubs of Ohio did not sell to anyone outside of their state so that they can have enough for their real members. Granted, this sucks (and does not seem fair) for those of us that are not Ohio residents, but since there's no corresponding Michigan plan, we may simply be out of luck.

This is good news, CoasterChuckey--but before I drive down there (only an hour, but still), I'm calling various branch offices and asking if I can purchase them (and taking names, to throw some blame around and raise Hell if I get a "yes" on the phone, but a "no" when I show up in person). My concern is that branches near the (MI) state line will not be as accommodating--especially with Toledo and its environs only being an hour from Cedar Point--and that I might have to travel farther (definitely no fun at all). As of this writing (with no calls made), I'm not planning on being able to go. But if I do, I can get my parking pass and get all that taken care of as an extra little bonus!

I'd appreciate it if anyone could answer a couple of quick questions...
1)Can one person become a member at one of the offices (say tomorrow) and then purchase tickets for AAA preview day?
2)Can one member buy as many tickets as he or she wants? (even for non-AAA members?)
3)I'm assuming you have to be 18 to join AAA, can someone verify this?
-Any other details thrown in for good measure would also be appreciated.

Hey Logan, the day I found out about the AAA day i went to my local office, I joined, and I was able to buy my tickets then and there. I just told them how many tickets I wanted, and they didn't ask if they were for memebers or not.

I'm sure it would be no problem to join and buy the tix on the same day--but $50 for membership (that's what it is in Michigan, give or take $10) just to get a discount on something you'd be able to do in another 5 days anyway, to me, at least, seems extreme. You'll end up losing at least $20 (after taking the discount of the tickets into consideration versus the cost of membership, and not including travel time and expense to get to an AAA Ohio location), net result. There are also residency restrictions to consider--you might need to be a resident of Ohio to join AAA Ohio (I can't comment with certainty on that matter).
As for your second question, that might be a matter for individual branches to determine. But then again, there might be a statewide policy regarding this issue. Some might let you buy unlimited numbers, but, with limited state-wide availability, it's my guess that there will be a limit. Shouldn't matter, though, if you're buying for non-AAA members (how would they know anyway?).
I don't know about the age requirement. My guess would be if you're old enough to drive, you're old enough to become a member of an auto club. They might think differently, though, what with 18 being the age of adulthood and all that.
You'll notice there's lots of uncertainty in this post--me hedging lots of my own comments. The only way to answer any of these questions with definition and authority is to call AAA Ohio or one of it's branch offices and take down names when/if you get the answers you want to hear. What they say is golden. Anything you read here is speculation--pure and simple.

I'm thinking I'll head over to my local office tomorrow and follow through. I'm a regular season pass holder, but I can't stand the thought of waiting until the 13th when I can get my first crack on the 7th. What can I say, the withdrawal is getting awfully bad.

Well when I called the office (Boardman, OH) I was told that each AAA office had been given 300 tickets. So I guess as long as your not purchasing over 300 tickets you should be fine. :) Also the women working there said that she had sold very few tickets. I am just hopeing that the word doesn't get out on this AAA day so the lines will be shorter for everyone. Also they said that non-members could purchase for 22.50 only 50 cents more than the member price. I would call about this first though because maybe they made a mistake in telling me this.

A) People who avidly stop by their AAA Ohio offices and read the bulletin boards or whatever, and
B) People like us who check CP's website 20 times a day and see if anything's changed.
And out of these two types of people, how many people are willing and or able to change any other trips they already had planned to the point to ride 5 or so days early. Only true enthusiasts I'm guessing. Besides, most CP junkies have Season Passes and aren't obsessed enough to pay an additional 22 dollars (plus take the trip to CP) to ride MF a few days early.....At least I wouldn't.

that just means shorter lines for us then huh? LOL personaly i can't wait and i know season pass holders who jumped on this idea cause it is before the park opens and the more trips the merrier! And who doesn't want to be one of the first to ride MF? that is what makes is so tempting!!

MICHIGANDERS UNIT!!!!.. :) I may be an Ohioan now.. but I was a MichiGANDER FOR 28 years. I guess you can be a Michiganian if you want to .. but Michigander is the coolest name to be... Unless you are an Ohioan:).. by the way, if any of you want to get in the park on the 6th.. why not just go get jobs at Langenburger (sp?) Basket?
