I say the Announcements Date will be Oct 27, 2002 . Since the signs say Look for news later this season and Cedar Points season is about done since they are doing the halloweekends. Cedar Points season is from May to October I think.

One other thing I think when the park is ready to close and Oct. 27 and people are starting to leave then all of a sudden cedar point say hay wait a second we got something to tell you

Oh boy, it's pounding time. You really should have looked through the other 1,000 topics about the announcement date. Now, people are going to yell at you, then you will get yelled at more, and then the topic will be closed forever....
My honest opinion: I used to care about the announcement date. After hearing so much speculation about it, I've actually become tired of hearing about it, and don't even care when it is, not that I'm not curious. It's just that I've kept myself busy by looking at the webcam and the weekly pics. All I'm asking of Cedar Point right now is not an announcement, just a few additional cameras. For the love of God, would you please do that for me, Cedar Point?!

IF the announcement truly is during the season, I predict next week (well duh). Think about it... announcement during the week, people thinking about it all week long, and they take the weekend to go visit, buy a s'pass, and check out the progress.

The supposed area that could have an artists' rendition of the ride perplexes me. Why have that area up, if the announcement isn't for a few weeks/days, or if the park will close?

I'm sticking with the predictions of either November or January announcement.

If you were a Cedar Point fan then I would think you would be more sure when Cedar Point's "season" begins and ends.

I'd place my wager on January. It won't be next week, seeing as that one quote from a Cedar Point exec said that the announcement was not imminent.

I think they'll anounce it when the buzz dies down. Then after an announcment the excitement will start up again.

So the more we discuss, argue, and bicker, the longer we'll have to wait.

i think that every time we debate on something about this ride, they say "ok, that's ANOTHER day you have to wait!!"

Don't worry about the announcement once they get some more track in with twists and turns you wont need an announcement, because you will beable to figure it out yourself

Rrrrgh...

I vote that the next person who brings up the "Building for the Future Sign" as if it were some sort of contractural obligation to the public ought to banned. Its just a sign, people. Just because it says 'later this season' does NOT mean CP will announce it before its gates close. First off, they might consider the 'season' to last right up until the gates open again in May. Or maybe they just don't care about a stupid sign. Besides, we technically had an 'announcement' of sorts with that cryptic news release some time back. So there. Consider your contract with the sign fulfilled.

I completely agree. What would you rather have - a nice press release or actual progress on the ride? Personally, I consider a 200' structure great news.

I doubt that anyone at Cedar Point ever dreamed how literal some people would take that sign. But, to clear up any lingering confusion, there will not be an announcement before November.

I personally hope they don't release an announcement date. I hope they just do it. Otherwise, the days before are just going to be excruciating.

For all but us select few, going to CP isn't really a spur of the moment thing. If they announced it in the middle of the week I don't think they would have a huge rush of people showing up to buy a s'pass and CP probably won't have that in mind. But you are right, they're running out of "later this season" time. I wish they'd just tell us. It's starting to go from "trying something new" to pure evil!

So this means if Jeff closes all of these forums, they'll announce the ride? ;)

I think from the way they are hinting at doing something different for the promotion of the ride and from the way that traditional media are picking this story up, we may have to wait quite a while to know what the ride is going to be.

It really seems to me that they're going to milk the "build suspense and intrigue" approach for all its worth.
