Plates on the brake run track

I was just at CP on Tuesday, and underneath the break run, there was a pallet with plates of steel on it. There were a bunch of these welded onto the top of the cross sections of the track. They didn't look familiar to me but then again, without the pallet of them underneath, I probably would have never noticed the ones on the track. Does anyone know why theres are there and their purpose??

I noticed today they start at the end of the waiting area catwalk and stop where that whole string of proxy's are at the end of the brake run. Given that, they could have laid them down so they could walk out on the track to get to the proxy's. Then they could inspect or fix them insted of getting a big ladder out. There really isn't anything else there besides those and the first few stationary brakes.

MF has two brake supports for possible trims. The more noticeable one is in the flat section of trace before the final OBC, but there is another one on the flat track before the second tunnel. Although they were never used, they were put there because it's not possible to calculate every circumstance the coaster will face.

But of course, I doubt Cedar Point would enforce trims on the ride now. Its been running great for 2 seasons with #1 in the golden ticket awards for the past couple of years.

Millennium Force cannot safely run at any speeds slower than it does now. It increases the chance of it rolling back[to my knowlege intamins magnetic trims are not ajustable]. On most steel coasters, it's dagerous to remove riders other than in the station. The only reason they take the riders off at any other point than the station, is when they *have* to.

Sure it is. The only real variable is how fat people get and what weight the grease is that the maintenance folks pack into the bearings.

I would agree with Joe E on this. Could be an OSHA issue for maintenance. Like 2 summers ago, they added a platform on Magnum's track where the photo sensors are to take HotShots.

Why would they add trims? And wouldn't they have to be on the sides? (like the rest of the brakes?)

Why would they be for trims? It's at the end of the ride....after the brakes. They obviously form a walkway out to the brakes. They are permanent because you can see where they welded them on.
