Zoning Laws?

What are CP's zoning laws for height of a ride?

I would think Cedar Point wouldn't have strict zoning laws due to that Cedar Point is all by it self(not by anything else in the city). That is just a guess. *** This post was edited by Andrew on 1/15/2001. ***
The way is see it is Cedar Point runs Sandusky. I read somewhere on a fiscal report of Sandusky that CP pays 8 Million Dollars in taxes a Year! Without CP Sandusky would just be a run down industrial city!

Just my 2 cents!

The people that work at the two auto plants might disagree with that last remark. Also, Sandusky is a fairly respectable shipping port on the Great Lakes. Don't forget the fishing that brings in loads of visitors each year that don't stop by the Point.

No doubt the City benefits from the presence of the Point but it survived many years when the Point was running on fumes.
If I recall correctly, it was recently raised to 400 or 500 feet.

So the zoning laws for hight were raised to 400 or 500 feet, eh? I wonder what that means. Hint,Hint :)

I wonder how long we will have to wait to find out... besides Cedar Point doesn't need a height limit becasue they are building a 500 foot underground floorless coaster... ;) :) ;)
You forgot about the part that goes upside down and under water at 500 m.p.h.J/k
500 feet is certainly a teaser. But are there any rides that are realistically ready to go that high?

The only one I can think of is a Skycoaster. I seem to remember a TLC/Discovery channel amusement park show that mentioned they hoped to reach 500 feet with skycoasters in the near future. That was a year or two ago. The near future would be now.

Yes, it's just random speculation but I don't think another Freefall is in store, and I doubt S&S would go from 160ft or 180ft or whatever TA2K is to 500 feet in one generation.

Perhaps as a slap in the face to SFMM, an Intamin built S:TE-type ride that tops the original by 100 feet?

It's good to dream, right?
Yes, they are ready to go that high. The technology Intamin used on Millennium Force could up go 750 ft.
Yeah, but a 500ft S:TE type ride would not be a rollercoaster right? It would never happen.
Not to mention that S:TE may be a hair over 400 feet tall, but having been on it and watching it most of the day on and off on New Years Day, it doesn't reach that high when you're in the car.

Worth the 4 years of waiting to ride it??? Yes.. Would I wait 2 hours in line for it, no a chance. 2 hours for MF??? Have many times and would again..

Good call Red Garter Rob!

It does seem that just about everyone has indeed missed the fact that the ride itself doesn't even come close to this big bad 400 foot high mark that all you S:TE fans have been blowing about. It actually is probably hard pressed to even hit 300 feet.

You want to impress me, then send them cars all the way to the top brother! Then you can run your lips about 400 feet this and 400 feet that.

And for the record, I would like to ride it ;)
Actually S:TE usually reaches 350ft. but that can vary according to windspeed, weight in vehicle, and amount of power being applied to stators. I've personally witnessed a car reach the emergency breaks at the top which start just below the 400' level. The tower is 415 feet tall.

Right on the mark vegasbadboy! It does hit about 350-360ft. Keep in mind that it's built about 60ft off the ground. Still an awesome structure no matter how you look at it and it has YET to be topped. *** This post was edited by Judge Roy Scream on 1/24/2001. ***
No, if you want to slap SFMM in ther face, beat them by 1 ft. =)
