Your love for the Point!!!

Since there are 61 days left till we can go ride the best coasters on the planet I thought it would be fun to share our stories on how when and why our love for cedar point started.

Mine was about 2 years ago. I had never been much of a rollercaoster fan but i hadn't been to Cedar Point in over 6 years so we decided to go. Upon arrival i soon remembered why i didnt like rollercoasters(i am just a little afraild of heights) but after so much pestering by my friend he got me to go on gemini. The entire way up the lift i was petrified but as soon as it started it ended and i was fine. The rest of the day i spent walking around the park with my friend not riding much but then came time to sit down and eat something. The entire time my friend bugged me to ride the coasters with him and as we know after so much you seem to just do things without thinking so i decided to go on the corkscrew to see what it would be like to go upside down i loved it. My friend then got me on raptor and i had the time of my life and have been coastin' ever since. *** This post was edited by CP_Freak on 3/12/00. ***
Why do I love the point...Because its AWESOME, BABY!!!
I was pretty much in your same shoes CPFreak. I hated them until last year, afraid of being that high in a little car, thought i would get sick etc... I basically did the same as you rode the little stuff like gemini, iron dragon, but when I hit Raptor then I broke loose; since then I have never looked back.

Welcome back Millennium Force riders...We all want to know how was your RIDE!!!!!
Well my first rollercoaster was at Walt Disney World when I was 6. My parents dragged me on big thunder mountian.. i cried all they way through the queue and as soon as i sat in the train, i somehow stopped and a strange feeling of comfort. The whole ride I just sat there not doing a thing and afterwards I begged my parents to go on it again.. then cried cause they wouldnt let me.. THEN I found out we were going to space mountian..rode that with the same feeling and havent turned back ever since.. MY FIRST ROLLERCOASTER AT CP was the Magnum XL-200 in 1989.
I was scared to bloody hell that the track wouldnt hold the car and that i would smash right into the ground... rode it..cried going into the station.... and since then I have yet to find a rollercoaster in all my travels that can compare to the Magnum...and thats alot of coasters!!

My love for the Point was actually started by a love for a competitor, Kings Island. Where I grew up was much closer to K.I. than C.P (2 1/2 hours vs. 5 hours) so I went there much more often with my family and friends, starting the very year it opened. I always dreamed of working there someday, that is until I found out that they had nothing in the way of employee housing. I went to Cedar Point in '78 on the opening week of Gemini and again the year Demon Drop was new and once again in the mid 80's. I was still going to Kings Island several times a year. Then in my freshman year of college I found out that the Cedar Point was coming to the school looking for summer employees, and they had employee housing. I applied for ride ops as my first choice and was hired for the summer of '87 for White Water Landing. Over the course of the summer I also filled in on the Antique Cars and the Giant Wheel (can you say boring). Living 200 feet from the Marina gate was the best. There were many things that were not all that great and I know of many people who worked at parks that cannot stand them after they leave. But for me it was dream come true. I will admit that I was ready to leave after working Open-to-Close six days a week for the last month I was there. I was rehired for '88 on Thunder Canyon, but before I left for the Point, I was offered a 40 hour a week summer job making about twice what I would make at CP and the lure of the bigger paycheck won out. Now that I live in Columbus, PKI is still closer but only by about 30 miles, and to tell you the truth, I could care less about going there because they just don't have enough there to keep you going all day without getting bored. However, ever since then I cannot wait for Cedar Point to open each year. For me, it the atmosphere there that keeps bringing me back. I love the water and the resort feel, of course I love the rides too, but the sense of history and moderness combined makes it my favorite summertime de???????????????????????? ????????????????????????????????????????? ????? ??????? ???? ???
i think there's a new Qoute of the Moment in there...VERY nicely put, CWD.

"I think I scrambled my brain!!"
I love the Frontier Tail. Not necessarily because its so cool but because my Dad told me stories about himself when he was little. He grew up on Davy Crocket and the coon hats. He would tell stories that just came to him whenever we visited the Point. I guess the Trail made him remember his childhood. So now when I walk the Frontier Trail I am reminded of my dad and the feeling he gets of his childhood coming back. In essence that same feeling occurs to me because I feel like a child listening to his stories. So thats why I love the Point because it brings back memories of your past and in this case my Father's.

One of my fondest memories of CP was as a child. It was a ritual in our family to go AT LEAST once a summer and it was always a secret my parents kept as to when we would go..It was a wonderful feeling to go to bed at night and suddenly be woken up in the wee hrs of the morning being told to get up and get ready for the point..That was what formed my love for CP!!

Now with me being an adult now and expecting our 1st child any day now, I plan to relive my childhood memories of CP past through the eyes of my little girl when she is old enough to appreciate and see the magic that a day at Cedar Point can give!! I can't wait for opening day to get some pics of her at the Amazement Park and better yet I can't wait for the 1st time my little girl and I can ride our 1st coaster together and she holds on to me for protection!! :)

That's exaclty what my parents did.
When I was young I loved the point. My aunt worked there when she was in college and always has funny stories about working. I liked those little juice things, feeding the ducks, and the slide! I refused to go on any coasters until I was in the 9th grade ( I was terrified when they forced me to ride BS before the new lap bars), when I was there with some friends who didn't really like coasters and got me to ride ID, which I really liked. Then the next time I went they got my on Gemini, and that ride just about totally erased all fear of coasters.

My love for the Point developed when I was a young child. It's not the coasters, when I first started going to the Point the only coaster was the Scamper, a wild mouse ride. The Blue Streak was still on someone’s drawing board. It was fun watching CP develop over the years. But right from the beginning, the park had some type of draw that is hard to pinpoint. Once it gets in your blood you are hooked for life. I don’t know what it is, it may be the location, or the scenery, or the way management creates the park’s atmosphere, it’s probably a combination of everything. But, it’s the “magic” of Cedar Point that is special and that I’ve always felt on every visit. And like Jeffery experienced, I also felt the thrill of waking up early in the morning for that ride to CP with my parents. The anticipation was almost unbearable, but I knew the rewards for waiting would be great. CP is just one of those places on earth where everything just “feels” right.
Our first trip to CP was in 1994. I think we heard of the Raptr opening up and decided to try soemthing different. CP was so huge comapred to small town park Kennywood near our home. We loved coasters (well except for me). As our thrid visit came in 1997, I soon grew to love coasters in the summer of that year, then in early 1998 discovering RRC.

Hometown parks: Kennywood, Cedar Point!
56 days until "The Force
"
My first trip to the point was 9 years ago, the second date I had with the man who is now my husband. He was a big CP freak and turned me into one. Maybe him taking me there has something to do with why we have stayed together after all these years and why I still love him! Coincidence?? LOL

The more you ride it, the more you want it!
