Your first time on the Magnum...

I am making this thread because I just wanted to report about mine, and hear some of yours.

My first time on the Magnum was last June 5th. It was kind of a rainy day so the Magnum was shut down. I was glad because this was my first time ever at CP so I was really nervous once I saw that drop.

My friends dragged me on the Gemini, and at the time it seemed to me as the same height as the Magnum. Once I rode that, for some reason I felt like I could conqour any giant hill.

When I got to the Magnum I was fine. I just remember getting on it and thinking, man this lift hill is long. I looked over once and saw the lake. I started to freak out so I looked back up.

We sat in the back seat, so when I saw some hands going over that hill I closed my eyes. The hill wasn't bad at all. As soon as I started to get scared, it was over with. The rest of the rides I only opened my eyes when my friend told me there was a camera. (yes, I was still a chicken. lol)

When it was over with I was still shaking from excitement and an accomplishment.

I have only been to CP twice, and my last time was in October. Since no one would ride anything with me, besides the Iron Dragon and DT, I didn't ride really anything else eathier.
I was to afraid to ride alone, since I rode the Big Dipper at SFWoA and the air time on that scared the crap out of me.

I can't wait to get back this summer and ride Magnum again, along with the rest of the wonderful coasters at CP, America's Rockin Roller Coast. HeHe. So how was your first time?

Cedar Point is the best. I will never stop loving it. You gotta, You wanna, You have to hold on...Cedar point hold on!! :) :) :)

All I remember is that the first hill seemed like it was leading straight down the the bottom of the earth. That day I met love, and her name is Maggie :)

MagnumFAN is back! But now he's a ShoelessRider!

My first ride on the Magnum was in 1993. It was my son's first trip and he was 7 years old. He took to coasters like a fish to water, and after riding Iron Dragon and Gemini, he wanted to ride Magnum. I was scared to death, literally shaking. It was the first time I saw Magnum and that hill was intimidating. We rode in the front car, and although I was scared going over the drop, by the time I got off I couldn't wait to get back on. I have never been nervous about any coaster again, including MF.

I'd rather die living than live like I'm dead

The day I rode Magnum, my friend kinda spoiled me by having me ride MF first. Still, I remember the airtime and the cool breeze off the lake from Magnum.

The thing about Magnum that stands out in my mind is that it's the first coaster where I didn't hold on for the whole ride. Coasters I rode before that I held on for dear life for awhile, then maybe let go. But on Magnum I just let it all go :)

I also remember my goofy on-ride photo. I didn't buy it :)

My first time was in 1990. I had quit smoking 2 months before. The first thing that I did after the ride was buy a pack of smokes (3.50, outrageous at the time).

Still smokin' and still ridin'!

(PS: I had to have a beer (at RGS) after my first MF ride--needed 2 hands to lift the glass and still spilled some cause my hands were shaking so much!)

Disclaimer: Don't drink or smoke, it's bad for you. :(

It was 1989 and I was 9 years old, first year. I so did not want to ride but Kneemeister my older brother dragged me on to it. I bawled even but I got on and you see where things go from there. 13 years later it's still my favorite coaster.

Welcome back Magnum riders how was your ride?

Dan...... ?
1990 or thereabouts. One of the few times I've been intimidated by a coaster and hesitant about getting on. I LOVED it -- that's the ride that's directly responsible for turning me into an airtime whore (although KW's Jackrabbit had already started the trend a few years earlier)

Darn it!... My memory is foggy of that first ride. The best experiences in my life are the ones that often go fuzzy.

I love Waterville!
Cedar Point, the cure for the Summertime blues!

My 1st time was in 1989. I hadn't been to CP since I was 15, so it was quite a surprise to go back. My husband was all psyched to go on the Magnum and I kept telling him, the lines too long, just wait a little, we'll get back to it later. Well, couldn't put him off much longer, so we got in line. I think the wait back then was an hour and a half. We boarded the train and I remember thinking that I have never been on anything like this. I must've looked at the lift hill a dozen times cuz it seemed to take forever to get to the top. All I remember next was screaming my lungs out and it felt like my cheeks were waving in the wind. I had white knuckles from hanging on so tight. I had tears coming out of my eyes, cuz I was so scared. After we got off, I told my husband that I was never going on that thing again.

I have since conquered that fear and ride the Magnum without holding on. She is my favorite roller coaster!

I remember my first time, i was like just tall enough to ride, so that first hill looked HUGE! I was so freaked out... when we went over the hill it seemed like it lasted forever...and during the turn around part, I thought I'd fall out!

The best part was when we got off and looked at the pictures, my moms hair was standing straight up, she was holding her breath, and her eyes were closed..lol! (it was her first time too)

I have a story on "Magnum Memories"

My son rode the Magnum when he was 7. I think he is scared of coasters now... not too sure. You can go to the Trip Report's forum to see my story about that one. Basically he didnt' want to wait for me to go up the hill so he got on. ::sad:: Wish he would have enjoyed the ride, instead it gave him a bad experience that has harmed him from riding the big coasters...::sigh::

I rode it on the senior class trip in 1989. It was the 'Final Exam' for roller coasters. It was a great ride then and is now. I still have the T-shirt that show the the tracks going into space past the space spiral. Pretty cool...

Get with it or die in the process.....

My first ride on Magnum was 6 years ago. I wasn't nervous at all because the bigger (and much, much meaner) Steel Phantom was in my backyard. The strange thing is every time I went to the point I always rode Raptor and Mantis. I was obsessed especially with Raptor and I forgot about Magnum the first year. The next year I didn't know what I was missing and I loved it! The first hill I tell you if it was 5 feet it was a mile. After that was a blur, but I do remember especially loving the tunnels. I still love that ride, although not the best ride in my book today, still ranks among them. About 700 rides later and I'm still enjoying Magnum and I get about 4 rides each visit. So to my recoglection that is my Magnum story. :)

My first ride on Magnum was on September 23, 2000. I hated it. It hurt really badly. It was probably because my lapbar was down too far. I was still new to the whole coaster thing, and well, air-time, wasn't in my vocabulary. That was the only time in 3 visits that I rode that year.

Everything has changed though. I gave it another chance on opening day of 2001, and well, to this day, 228 rides since that first one, I can say that I love it.

Mine was a little over a year ago, on 6/13/01. I went to CP with my friend, and neither of us had been on the Magnum yet. Since we had a streak of riding only in the front row of every coaster so far, we decided to continue the trend for our very first ride on the Magnum. We got a great perspective from riding with nothing in front of us. The Magnum quickly became my favorite ride in the park (hence my handle). Then on Opening Day this year, I discovered the ejector seat...
