You design the next big thing...

What if you were in charge of designing the next
big thing to hit Cedar Point? Where would you
locate it? What kind of paint job would you
throw on it? Where in the park would it be
located? What would you call it? I'm curious as
to what everyone thinks would be the perfect
addition to Cedar Point's ride arsenal.

I, personally, think the Thrust-Air coasters, and
4-D's are a little too gimmicky right now. I'd
really like to see a good *dueling* wooden
twister hit the beach. I know, I know, a woodie
hitting the beach has been talked about over and
over with the whole 'boardwalk project' rumors,
but I think a dueler would be a great addition to
the park, not to mention spreading out the crowds
around the peninsula, and re-inventing the Oceana
midway. I still haven't come up with a name or
'theme' concept for a name yet, I'll leave that
to the guru's at CP, if they're listening ;)

I would design a woodie with ultimate airtime. It would have steel supports and a wooden track like the "Villian". I also would have all of the turns banked instead of straight. As far as position, I would put it behind Ocean Motion and stretch it down to the corkscrew, obviously tearing down some of the buildings in it's place. Then I would throw in a few flat/spinning rides by to form a group with Ocean Motion. Finally, I would tear down Oceana and The Old Aquarium and put in the tallest Wild Mouse coaster and a great restaurant/food stands. Peanuts Playground would wait till the next year for a launched/looping coaster.

There's my Boardwalk project.

Here's my idea.... again it involves the boardwalk project (suprise). I would build a TA2k... themed to a nuclear explosion (going with a 1950s boardwalk theme). The loading station would look like a bomb shelter with lots of metal and radioactive signs. Once you  are on board you would go down  a little dip from the station, and around a bend into a "mini" bomb shelter. It gets dark inside, and a air-raid siren starts going off, fog starts to fill the shelter, and the whistling of a bomb grows louder, as it gets louder the doors open and you get launched up a 200+ hill. The elements following would include a turnaround like Goliaths at SFMM, into a upward banked rise to the right, then a downward banked drop to the left. Next a few airtime hills and a triple helix. The name of the ride would either be Fallout or Bombshell

A nice GCI twister like Wildcat at Hersheypark would look nice in the area too.. :)

The best would be an intamin hyper/looper.  215 feet tall 225 foot drop into a tunnel followed by the largest vertical loop in the world.  It would go on to to 7-10 invesions and be put behind disaster transport and run down the beach toward the causeway. In the mix there could be a tophat, a boomerang, 3 very nice bunny hills, and a huge helix like on s:ros at sfdl.  I'd be themed magnum2,  just kidding.  No id leave the name to cp to decide. O , and NO over the shoulder restraints!

CABEWNCP's idea is the best I've heard for a
TA2K... actually makes the ride sound interesting
:)
I had a post in this thread earlier...but...

CABEWNCP, that idea is awesome! Fall out would be a really cool name for a coaster. The theming on it would be cool it. That would be pretty cool if they had Powerman 5000's Bombshell either in the queue station, or actually on the ride. It's really fast, metal, definitely music that would amplify the experience of the ride.

That sounds awesome!  Finally a good themed ride at CP!

... now if that would only become a reality
WOW really that sounds good....creativity is just in the air here, that almost makes me want a TA2K (note the almost)
I would still rather have a good wooden one, I mean really now that Mean Streak has been bumped off the top 25 wooden coaster list, CP needs to bust a move here and build the best woodie(s) ever!!!

Thats it. I'm naming a coaster in RCT "Fallout" now.

'Gravity knows no force like Millennium Force.'
I would build the "Giant Sky Wheel". It would have the basic idea of the original Sky Wheel (double Ferris wheel) but would consist of two wheels the size of the current Giant Wheel (GW), or perhaps slightly larger. With clearances and such this should have little trouble topping the 300' mark.

I'd probably try to shovel it in between the Gemini and Mean Streak. There's a bathroom near the CP&LE crossing near the north end of Gemini, and behind that there's a service and storage area. This might provide enough room, as the actual foot print wouldn't be that large. The paint would be silver, and lighting a combination of the current GW and some of the effects used on Millennium Force.

I'd like to see it open for about 1/2 hour after the other rides close, to generate some interest. Also, for about an hour in the afternoon and again in the evening, I'd have a special line set up for people who want to bring food on the ride (it would be slow enough, just like the current GW).

Hey, I can dream, can't I?

I would go with a B&M hyper floorless, just because that would be so cool.  I would paint it, orange rails, green spine, and yellow supports.  It would have 8 inversions.  A vertical loop, inclined loop, zero-g roll, a dive loop, immelman, corkscrew, and a cobra roll.

-----------------

I would get a vertical drop ride like oblivian. Make it black track and blue cars. 200 feet, add a couple inversions.
Also a CCI woodie with tons of airtime

A lap bar is all you need!

Dueling B&M Flying coasters along the beach over by disaster transport. Think of the visuals that could be achieved by a flying coaster, plus CP would one up SFWoA with it being a B&M.

I think it should be themed to two dueling monsters from lake erie, create a storyline that is told during the que, maybe with some some sort of indian theme to it, with murals depicting the battle......I know sort of a rip off of dueling dragons, but it'd be with a little ohio flavor to it.

The colors should be brownish mud looking for one, and the other side would be a dark muddy green. I think, even though it'd be tough to do with lake erie being a b*tch during the winter, but maybe they could have one element out over water.

Not only would that be amazing, but being a dueling coaster, it would allow CP to have an extremely high capacity ride (once again, it'd be a B&M), while at the same time, it would be VERY easy to take all the flying coaster records with it, as the tallest one right now is X-Flight.

-----------------

Mine would be to have Intamin design a launched mega looper coaster with MF trains. S&S would design the launch system, making it launch at 110 mph (fastest coaster in the world) into a 250 ft dive loop(worlds tallest inversion) on the beach. After the dive loop would be a 215 ft loop (largest loop in the world). Next would come a 185 ft zero-g-roll. Following the 0G roll would be a 160 ft sea serpent. Right after the sea serpent comes the 140 ft tophat. After turning aroun from the tophat, comes an overbanked triple helix around 115 ft high. After the helix would come a inclined loop, followed by a 2nd zero-g-roll twisting the opposite of the first. After that would be 2 interlocking corkscrews. Finally, to end the ride would be a series of 5 airtime hills, follow by an overbanked turn into the brake run like MF.
well, thats 4 world records
1. fastest coaster
2. most inversions
3. tallest inversion
4.largest loop
sounds good to me
Hey, I can dream right?

Can a inverted wooden coaster ever be built? Or how about a in-line twist on a woodie??
I like the idea of a "Pleasure Island"-type complex at the Point. Make it on the boardwalk, if you want..that I don't care about. But a few clubs, restaurant, nightlife for the park after it closes would be a great idea. When I went to Florida in June, Pleasure Island was so much fun, and would be a welcome addition to Cedaer Point, in my opinion!
i dont know about an inline twist, but i do know that a vertical loop on a woodie is possible. I saw on Discovery a few weeks ago a woodie in design that has a vert. loop. It might be up already, but I'm not sure. confirm/deny this?

The Son Of Beast at Kings Island of Ohio is a woodie with a vertical loop. Does anyone know can a woodie be inverted or have a in-line twist?
