It can be. But, in general, that whole weekend is pretty slow. In years past, the park was only open to the public on Sunday. There was a buy out of the park on Fri & Sat. During those years, the Sunday afterward was extremely slow.

Jason, my recollection of years past (2008 comes to mind) is that the park would be open to the public on Friday (6-10pm only, limited rides), then closed on Saturday for the Honda event, then open Sunday. So even when Saturday was closed, Friday was still opened (again just from memory).
Those Fridays are amazing. Saturday is maybe like a normal early June weekday, and Sunday is really good. Again, please don't tell anyone! ;)

Cedar Point just announced on Facebook that season pass holders can bring a friend for $15 now through the end of bonus weekend. The secret is leaking.
Ehh, they offered it for $20 last year too, and it wasn't that crowded on Sunday. Granted, they made the announcement sooner this year, so there will probably be more people, but I doubt it will be mobbed.
I'm signed up for the text alerts and earlier today I got one saying if students bring their student ID, they can get into the park through through Sept. 3rd for $20.

Just saw this from Cedar Point's Twitter account:
Passholder Appreciation weekend will be September 7-9. More details coming soon!
That's the weekend they've been doing it for a while now. Except that it's not the entire weekend every year. Many times it was just Sunday.
