Whether it makes any difference or not, I don't know, but I got one of those reminders today while I was at the park. I had noticed...ahem...something (minor) amiss in the Wildcat station, so I popped into the Operations office and mentioned it.
The...ah...person I talked with indicated (understandable) ignorance of the situation then commented that it was probably better to hear it from me than to read about it on Guide to the Point. :)
Of course, what that person is going to have to read on Guide to the Point is that I noticed the exact same thing today on Iron Dragon. :)

(I'm not gonna give specifics unless they don't fix it. So don't ask.)
I don't get it, but okay.

Here is what you do Gomez. Print out this page, seal it up in an envelope, write 'do not open until 2015' and give it to your parents. You'll understand it then.

What
is
the
point
of creating a post that says absolutely nothing??? Are you bored or starved for attention? Thats like walking up to someone and saying: "Guess what happened to me today?" and when they invariably ask "what happened?" you say "haha - I can't tell you!"
Is this thing you noticed something that is really that sensitive that it has to remain secret? Something tells me it isn't that big of a deal, and you're just bored or something...
Sorry if this post sounds mean, but that was just a pretty pointless thread to start in the first place...
Brandon
Starved for attention? Bored?
You've been around for less than a month, dj, so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. The typical poster here has probably produced as much "noise" in the last month as Dave has produced in his life, going back to the early rec.roller-coaster days.
Rest assured, RideMan always has a point. If you don't understand the post, re-read it (paying attention to the middle paragraph).

I apologize for the brashness of that response, but the post seems so cryptic and vague that it didn't really warrant creating in the first place...
However, if the point of the post (and I have re-read it several times) is that the management is listening to the needs of the park, then I guess I understand the post.
Beyond that, I have no idea what the post means... a reference to Guide to the Point (aka Pointbuzz) tells me nothing... something amiss in the Wildcat station also tells me nothing beyond the subject of the statement...
Now, its quite possible that I am completely overlooking something here (nobody's perfect), but I am at a total loss... perhaps I need to have been a long-time member of these forums to understand?
NOTE: I am not trying to be a jerk or a pain or anything like that... I'm just unclear as to why the post is so cryptic...

Basically, Dave is giving them a chance to fix the situation before calling them out on it. He doesn't want to say what "it" is, but he does want people to know that management does pay attention to these boards.
As he said, the person figured it was better to hear it straight from Dave's mouth rather than read about it on here where details very quickly get distorted.

Okay, thats sorta what I gathered... just seemed kinda obvious that they pay attention to the boards here, so thought maybe there was something else there.

Now that I read it again, I get it. Though I don't understand why stimpy needed to put his comment in. Sometimes you're not allowed to ask questions with some of you.

Yeah, I agree - often, when someone asks a question (or indicates they don't understand as with Gomez above), others reply with harsh comments or they try and be funny with off-the-wall comments which offer no help. Then, when someone responds in kind, all of a sudden the response is treated as an attack.
Thankfully, Walt was understanding and cool about his comment, but many others simply feel the need to make themselves (and a few others) laugh at a newbie's expense. It's sad, really, when people act like that on a message board - as if nobody new is supposed to join their group. I understand that many new people say the wrong things or sometimes take things the wrong way, but cut us some slack, jack!
Brandon
But that's exactly what you did, in this case - replied with harsh comments. You're doing exactly what you tell others not to do ... and to one of the most respected members of the enthusiast community at that.
Walt - I understand that I, too, used some harsh comments. However, from my first day on these forums I was treated to nothing less that the harshest of comments for not knowing EVERYTHING about CP. And, its sort of given me bad habits when it comes to what people post, cause there is a lot of double-standardizing when it comes to old members vs. new members, some of which I understand, but to the extent that I've witnessed it, its frustrating to say the least.
That being said, I wholeheartedly apologize for my harsh comments. In the future I will be more attentive to what and how I post my responses... as should everyone else!
Now, back on topic... ummmm.... what was it again?
OH YEAH!

Unfortunately, a valid thread has been thrown way off course. But I can't just let some of these comments go.
I assume you're talking about your first post, where people ripped you - not for your lack of knowledge about Cedar Point, but your lack of knowledge of forum guidelines. Sure, there are some armchair moderators around here. And, just like in any other social circle, sometimes things get out of hand and people say things they should not. That's not a PointBuzz problem, that's just life. There's no widespread "new versus old" or looking down on those who don't know as much as others.
I'd have to respectfully disagree with that - to a point... I didn't mean to indicate that the problem is widespread, just that it happens a lot... confusing choice of words, I know...
And, no, I was not referring to that post - - I was referring to a post (on my 1st day here) in which I mentioned the technology used to propel WT and compared it (incorrectly) to TTD. Instead of correcting me, I was flamed pretty good, by more than one person and have seen that kind of thing go on a few times. I understand thats part of life, but what was the point of Stimpy's post up above? That was the proverbial straw... he had nothing constructive to say, and instead was DEstructive.
Thats all... good argument - I appreciate your level-headedness and easy-going attitude, Walt. Its not often I enjoy 'arguing' with someone.
Brandon
You weren't flamed for your lack of knowledge, you were flamed for your over abundance of idiocy. There's a big difference.
"If you don't want to post here, or don't think this thread should exist just move along!"
djDaemon, you should follow your own advice and let the mods do their job.
So anyway.......
You have to realize that people who work their way up the ladder at CP usually just started as people like us. One time I went into Park Ops and my supervisor said, "Josh, I read another guest complement about you on PointBuzz!" He was referring to Ralph Wiggum's thread in the Millennium Force forum.
I'm not saying that people like Hildebrandt and Kinzel are reading, because they're probably not interested in what a couple CP fans have to say on the internet. But of course a bunch of Blue Tags and probably most likely handful of silver tags are still coaster enthusiasts, whether they're posting on these boards or not.
