Yearly Crowd Pattern...

We all know to stay away from CP on Saturdays in July in August, but what other days are usually horrible? What other days are good? (for the 1,000-th time,) how is opening week? Etc... what are some "Crowd patterns" you have noticed?
experiencethepoint.com has a "crowd calander" that they say is based on trends in past years. Apparently it was rather decently accurate last year.
In a very general sense. Tuesdays-Thursdays have a low attendance compared to the rest of the week.

What about school days such as Mondays?

I know the crowds will be low before the school day ends, but what about when the kids are out of school? Hopefully they won't "flock to the point!"

Mondays seemed very busy last year. I like Sundays best.

Crowds are what we hate, but crowds are what makes the park successful and bring in revenue to make the park better.

Even though we all want Cedar Point to ourselves, just go to the park and take it in for what it is worth.

I have hit the park many many times and every time of the year. The only real day I disliked was a Saturday. Sundays can be busy too, but they taper off in the evenings.

Other than that, I enjoyed the park, and the crowds help add to the atmosphere.

I agree that it can be more fun to be in the park when there's lots of people. I'm not talking about jammed, but if the park is totally dead, the atmosphere isn't quite the same.

Having said that, last year, I can say for sure that Sundays were the least crowded day of the week. Mondays and Fridays were the most crowded of the weekdays. Tuesday-Thursday is always a good bet. Also, the 4th of July was not as crowded as you would think. I believe the 2nd was the busiest day around the 4th last year. I'd say the 5th and 6th are a good bet for big crowds this year, but not necessarily the 4th since it is on Thursday. Crowds tend to really start building around the end of June and July and August are by far the busiest months. May and June are great times to go and also the last week of August was pretty dead (the days with the 8PM closings) last year as well.

Ok...Let's try to answer this once and for all this season. I hope we don't see alot of ..."How is the crowd on fill in the blank date...." After I write this I will do a search and see if I can locate a post from last season regarding this...

As for any website having a "crowd predictor" or whatever...Don't be impressed...If you want to know the crowd level...just check CP's hours of Operation...They don't close the park early on weekdays in May because they like to chase guests out of the park:)

Ok...Here is the link..Hope this HELPS everyone and will stop the need for "What will the crowd level be on the date I'm going to the park" posts...

OTT

Who hates this type of discussion almost as much as ..."CP is running out of room"

The whole notion that there's some science to amusement park attendance, like there's some "authority" on it, is pretty stupid to me as well. What does common sense tell you? When you factor in weather, school, holidays, operating hours, time of year, when normal people work, etc., it should be pretty obvious, don't you think?

No, I don't. It's an interesting topic, in part because it isn't so obvious. I've seen a number of times over the years where attendance has surprised me. While a forum isn't scientific, there are clearly trends (and fluctuations) in attendance that are worthy of discussion and observation in a dynamic setting.

I totally disagree. The only surprises I've seen in the last four years are the big numbers on Halloweekends Fridays (especially last year) and Independence Day '99 or '00 (which ever one was a Saturday). Other than those two days, I can't say crowds have been anything other than what you'd expect given the parameters mentioned above.

Perhap's OTT's bigger issue is with the "What will crowds be like" posts, which are worse, because no one has a crystal ball. Those days you go with what the Weather Channel has to say the day before.

Jeff, you are correct:)...I have a problem with the posts asking for a crowd level on a specific day...

Sorry CPDave I disagree with you. Crowd LEVELS will not flucuate much from year to year...CP knows that on the 83rd operating day they will have x number of guests in the park and will base staffing and everything on this figure...Even when a NEW attraction..ie WT is added to the park, CP can "guess" fairly accurately the crowd levels.

Let's not beat a dead horse on this topic...Just check the Parks hours of operation and you'll pretty much figure out the crowd level for a certain day.

Yes, there have been blips in this over the last few years...Closing Day 2000 comes to mind...but those are so few and far between you can count them from the last 10 years on one hand.

I just want to know what rides have been painted;)!
