A long time ago I remember WWL had like a cave you went through and water would drip on you and then they got rid of it. Reasons for this?
It started to fall apart so they just tore it down. They must have already had plans for that area for them to say screw it, just tear it down, obviously. ;)

Actually, Cedar Point is just horrible at maintaining any type of theming whatsoever. I agree with the "screw it", but not because of any plans. That cave was missing for years.
Promoter of fog.
I think that the Maverick canyons will stay intact for much longer because they are made of concrete.

LOL, that was just the start on the tear down on WWL.
When I worked there in 1999/2000 there were rumors of kids hiding in the cave and then scaring guests. Not sure if that was true or not...

JuggaLotus,
Are you sure it wasn't fiberglass? I could have sworn that parts of that cave was almost transparent.
I think the cave was gone by the 02 - 03 season.

That's what I thought too Rob. Since the cave obviously had a top to it, it would be ,much easier to do it with fibreglass than actual concrete.

The rocks of Maverick aren't solid concrete. It's like a swimming pool. You make a steel cage with rebar, then you shoot concrete onto the surface. So, the thickness of the concrete is actually only an inch or two thick. It doesn't really matter if there is a "top" on the mountain or not.
I'm really not sure what the WWL mountain was made from though. I remember it, but that much detail about it. I was always ducking down and covering my head because of the trickle of water. :)
