WT is Testing!

Maybe I'm totally wrong about this but didn't Superman have a few problems also shortly before it opened withthe LIMS or something?

If so then maybe Intamin should try working the bugs of of their LIMS before they build the next Impulse.

Jeff, I too have heard about the problems right now, they are nothing major, and the ride will still open as scheduled.

That's asking a lot considering they're still working the bugs out of Maintenance Force! ;) Just kidding, of course, but the Intamins do seem to be very tempermental to me. Of course in the rare event that a ride like Magnum does go down mechanical (and it's not a bad wheel) it seems to make a lot longer to fix - like a guy going to the top of the lift to replace a prox swtch. :)

I'll never believe anyone about "problems" again unless they can be quantified. I heard all kinds of "problems" for Millennium Force, few of which ended up being true.

Yeah, Superman had all kinds of problems. Wasn't it the first ride of its kind though? I mean, had LIM's ever been used before to launch a ride?

In any event peeps, from the diary entry today Monty doesn't seem to worried about anything, so why should we be?

Reply to Jeff "Yeah, Superman had all kinds of problems. Wasn't it the first ride of its kind though? I mean, had LIM's ever been used before to launch a ride?"

First lim launched coaster was outer limits at PKI, then PKD.

First lim sort of speak ride was the wedway people mover :) at dis :)

First impulse was located in China I believe, but it did not have the spiral on the climb.

But Superman the escape "CA" was the first magnetic launch that also reverse current to slow the car on return without friction brakes., thats where they got the tech for the impulse.

Superman in CA uses LSM, and yes most Lim/Lsm coasters have tons of problems, mostly software or voltage related, they are not as easy to setup as they seem.

Hope that made sense, or something. :)

Cheers!

Mantis - 2002

hehe if there were problems do you think they would say anything? :D I was up at WT today and it looked alright. they are working on the concrete under the trains and some of the midway, Raptor started testing today all circulers were tested and broke :D mantis has been running all day cycling through, and there is a top secret project being done like 60 steps away from magnum's entrance.. One of the construction crew members said he doesn't know anything and that it should be revealed in winter.
Near Magnum, eh?
I can't find it.. but it's worth asking here.. Who was it who was archiving the days pics??? I need a copy of ALL of todays.. I'm looking for something.

Please email me if you have all of today's pics..

Just saw the train about halfway up the back tower, (7:30) and so the excitement continues.

This is a little off topic, but if you look at the link that futurepoolboy posted, it appears the "cage thingy" is clear. The light is reflecting off of it like it would off of plexiglass.

VertiGo: VertiGone but not forgotten.

I'm looking at the webcam right now (4:46) and the "cage thingy" is casting a shadow... Probably not plexiglass then.

However, Tommy, If you look really really closely you'll see that the tarm covers the "Cage thingy" ;)

I think that it is not plexi-glass. I'm pretty sure it's something else. What that is I'm not sure of myself. I guess I'll find out soon enough. :)
