I was talking to my friend today and she told me that she read someones trip report to CP (somewhere on the internet, don't know where) and they said that they were on WT and it shut down because the train hit the back spike. I tried to tell her that it wasn't possible but she wouldn't believe me. It isn't possible to hit either spike, is it? What are those things at the top of the spikes that look like some sort of hydraulic pole?
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
no, no, no, there is no way that would be possible unless the launch speed was a good amount faster or the wind was going somewhere around 50 mph blasting up into the sky lol. I won't believe that.

Vince: Yes it is possible; those 'hydraulic' things are actually the bumpers...on borderline windy days when the wind was blowing with the train on the 72-mph go-around, it's been known to boost the speed to where the train actually made it up there...I know someone who was test-riding and it kissed the bumper slightly.
Not to be confused with Twisted Wicker 08 from 2002
Whoaa.... that would be sweet. Has that ever happened with guests on it, not the early test?
I wanna take it up to the top now :)

Its honestly not that rare of an occurance in my opinion. I've seen it come very close/hit the bumper on uite a few occasions.

Last TTD train of the night (6-23/24).
And I theorize that if it does so it will shut down the ride. There are switches up there that will trigger if the train gets close enough.

Seems that would give a rather big jolt while on the ride. Even if you are going slow.

Ok everyone. I was at CP yesterday and WT broke down twice. Other than that it ran smoothly all day.
