WT Bids, compared to MF bids!

Who remembers how much the highest bid was last year for the first MF ride. WT is already up to 700.00 and that is nuts to me. I must not be as big of a CP freak after all :-(

I think the front seats went for $2,000 each, then the next two were $1,000, and then there was a significant drop-off.

My friend was in 9-2 on that first train and he paid $220.

I am huge Cedar Point fan, but that's just stupidity personified to bid that much money for a "first" ride on a roller coaster. How is it any different from the 462nd ride? (Besides the fact you can say, "I was one of the first to ride it." Big deal.)
But you have to remember that this money is going to charity.

Exactly.. it's charity.. That's it...

...and the rights to say you were the first rider. A statement only few can ever make.
I doubt that people bidding $700 (or $2000) for the auction are doing so just to be on the "first" train. People donate plenty more for other events held by charities, I don't see why this one has to be any different. Heck...I doubt even those who bid the minimum of $75 back at the beginning were really doing so just to get on the "first" train.

Plus the fact that you don't have the right to say I was first to ride...you are AMONG the first to ride...employees, testers, water dummies, all go before you do...
Yeah.. the dummies have already ridden it.. ;)

You also have to remember the basket people will be riding on the 4th so the bidders still don't have "first ride" rights. Just first opening day rights.
Millie brought in around $32,000 if I remember correctly. They ended up auctioning off all 3 trains for first rights.
Ahhhh, that's right. Money goes to charity. I'm sorry for my own ignorance.
Plus everyone and their kids in the Longaberger cult will already have ridden it also.

Also, in 2000...opening day was May 13th, but on the 7th was Triple-A day. That was the longest I had ever seen the line for Millennium Force. Media days also.

Whats wrong with:

"Hi, Red Cross? Here's my donation. I'm one of the first!"

I don't understand the over analyzation of this statement. So you're not THE FIRST but you're ONE OF THE FIRST. Who cares? Charity is good. It's a shame that people need an incentive like riding a roller coaster to give.

So how much did the dummies pay to ride it? :)

Since they're are dummies they paid a milion dollars for every second they would be seated. ;)
