Hi Everyone. I don't know if this is the place to ask this question. But as some of you know I am going to go this year and face my fears and ride the MF. I was wondering if anyone minded if I shared my thoughts on the First time riding it?
My first time was in 2000. I shook for 20 minutes after riding. I went right into Red Garter afterwards and had to drink my beer using 2 hands, and still spilled some of it.
I've ridden it over 30 times since then. Just ride it, you'll be OK. MF is my favorite coaster now and the best darn ride on the planet.
The best way to get over your fear is to just do it. You'll be OK. Just look at the faces of the people getting off the ride. Did they have fun? That is how I got on Dragster.

My first time was in 2004. I thought it was going to be horrible, but it was very fun. I thought the same thing with Raptor, Wicked Twister, Magnum, maXair, Top Thrill Dragster, etc., but now I love every single one of them. You just have to face your fears. Chances are, you will have a blast.

My First time hearing "Clear...launching in..3...2.....1......WHOOOOOSH" was so crazy. I had a blast after the inital shock of the first launch.
Ever since I have loved the ride.

I remember my first time. I rode very front row of the blue train with my friend Samantha, who had rode it before.
Being my first time, I was a little nervous, but I was more thrilled just to be actually riding this ride, especially front row.
I loved going up the hill, the elevator, and all of the scenery down below.
Then there is the drop. Best drop ever. My knuckles were pretty darn white as I held onto the lap bar.
Great ride.
(and now my hands are always up, ever since then)

I still can't bring myself to ride Millie hands up. Maggie, yes, Millie not yet.

I used to be terrified of all Roller Coasters. It took a good friend to drag me onto one, I hated him at that moment but after it was over I couldn't get enough of roller coasters. Just bring a good friend with you who does ride coasters and tell them to force you onto Millennium Force. I was extremely nervous before I rode Millennium the first time but now I love it. Just go for a big one right away then you'll feel like you can ride them all. If you're scared of the height just remember, Millennium Force takes you to the top fast and you are only at 310 feet for a few seconds so there isn't much time to worry about it. You'll have the time of your life.
Before riding MF back in 2002, the biggest ride I would go on was ID and corkscrew. Being a newbie to the whole CP fan thing, I thought I was crazy for being a big fan and being afraid to ride coasters. So my family planned a trip in July and that would be the day I'd try new rides and work my way up to MF.
For starters I went on ID to start the day off easy. Got on the ride went down the first drop and hit the second lift hill and STOPPED. We were stuck there for about 20 minutes and then we finally finished our ride. Turns out CP is generous to its guest and gave everyone a ticket to go up the exit of any ride other than WT (it was too new). I was with a group so they wanted to go on MF. My whole plan of working my way up was ruined. I went up the exit of MF and I was told my face was pale white. Standing in the unload station starring at the giant lift hill was very daunting. They then let us in the load station and I boarded the yellow train (in the middle). I was so scared at this point I couldn't even talk. The ride up the lift hill was the worse, since you can no longer turn back. The lift sped up a tad and we were at the top...
I ended up enjoying the ride and I couldn't get wait to ride the next. MF is the perfect ride to test your fear. It is the most intense ride you can ride and after you pass that test you'll be fine on any other coaster around.
Four years later and I can't figure out why I was afraid in the first place. Thrill rides are the best way to let go of stress, scream your heart out, and have fun with your family and friends. That's something you can't get on that bench by the photo booth. :) *** Edited 4/21/2006 1:08:36 AM UTC by Gomez***

Millennium Force is a gentle giant. It's big, powerful, and fast but it is so well engineered that it handles you with kid gloves, so to speak. I like to hang out the side on the first drop, because it's the visuals that make it work. If you ride it with your eyes closed (which I have, over and over in the pouring rain at one Millennium Mania), you can't tell where the turns are.
No reason to fear it. I find Magnum and Raptor are far more intense.
To being an "us" for once - instead of a "them"
Ehhh, MF is too smooth for me to consider the most intense, but that first hill... yes! First time I rode (http://www.andrewhartley.com/MF1.jpg) was back in 2000, and I remember looking up at the hill and only seeing a long blue line going into the sky. I also remember looking to my side and seeing the trains fly by every 2 minutes. The biggest thing about those flybys was the restraints... uhhh, where are they? No OTSR to keep me in? Oh fishsticks, I'm done.
Enter anxiety. How the heck did I get myself into this situation? Why am I riding this ride that's so much taller than me? The next logical question would have been why wait this long to terrorize myself, but we lucked out and it was only a 15 minute wait. With a wait like that, minutes later I found myself inside the platform, listening to the station music, and seeing a train being sucked out of the station into a place I would be very soon, and I hope it wasn't Heaven or Hell!
I have never ridden front row in the ride once, simply because I never wanted to wait too much longer to get on the ride. Getting in the seat, the bar came down on me, nice and secure. Push it a bit harder... there we go, that's more like it. Keep me stapled, you little yellow lifesaver. Moments later, the train pulled out of the station and we cruised up the lift hill. The view was so fabulous, but I only had a few seconds to enjoy it. The train levelled out and started to tip forward, and the most adrenaline-inducing moment of my life.
There are people who may not like Millennium, but most of those would have to agree that the first hill is an absolute blast to go over. If I remember right, Millennium is just under 1.25 miles long, and you zip through it pretty quick: a nice graceful ride, and there isn't a ride like it in the park... so much speed and rolling along at a great pace. Even today the ride is still very smooth and one of my favorites. *** Edited 4/21/2006 1:50:35 AM UTC by Hartley***

Ill never forget my first ride.
Halloweekends...2000....in the dark.....in the front seat....
Incredible.
I remember that as we were cresting the hill, the strobes were flashing underneath us, and I remember thinking "is this thing speeding up as we near the top" (ive still wondered that actually...it feels like it)
I just remember laughing all the way hysterically...and how everyone broke out in applause when they said "Hey blue train how was your ride!"
Hands up, all the way....you feel like youre flying Mr. Scott. :)
Here is my story of the First Time riding MF (this could be long!)
I started my CP trips in 2002. I did not ride MF until last year...Yeah 3 Years to wait to ride a ride. Swore up and down to my partner that I would never ride it. He was a Roller Coaster Freak I thought...He loved them all! So it was the third Weekend in May and we were walking through the Park so Tim could get his hand stamped for a Freeway pass to ride by himself. We looked at the wait to ride and it was 1/2 hour. The line for the Freeway pass looked longer than that...So I took a deep breath and counted down from 10...I don't know what posessed me to grab Tim and head to the entrance gate, but I did. We were waiting in line and we were listening to the Remix versions of all my favorite songs. I must have looked like a ghost because I felt all the blood flowing out of my body.
We approaced the loading dock. It looked like we were going to get the blue train...I thought Wow..Blue my favorite color..May not be so bad.....
We were all buckled in. I looked foward and told Tim....If I survive this...You owe me Big Time! lol
We Then moved up the biggest hill ever......I looked down and saw everything getting smaller and smaller...We were at the top before I knew it. We started down the hill..I can remember thinking OMG I am on MF!! I thought "hell" This wasn't so bad. In fact I was having so much fun!! I remember thinking to myself..HA MF...You thought you could scare me! In fact You made me smile!
Braden, Take it from me...MF is the best ride ever at CP. And After you Master the MF...Take a ride on Magnum and Mean Streak...They are smaller than MF...
And please let us know how you did!

I've never been afraid to ride coasters. The only problems I have are with spinny (which I discovered aren't so bad after all). When I was at the park for the first time my cousin lead the way. She loves coasters and knew the park well. I got in line thinking 'no big deal' then on the way up my heart pounded. Once we crested the hill I was amazed. Fear is all in your mind. Just think to yourself 'there is nothing to be afraid of. The ride is safe, I am secure, and look at all of the great things people say about it. I will have fun!' Ride it and have a great time! Plus, nothing beats the station music!
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

Exactly......I love the station music!!!^_^ lol
Seriously though, you're right.
When I first rode it in 2000, I don’t know how long it took me to regain my composure. I got off the train, walked down the ramp and sat down on a bench by the on-ride photo building and had to wait for my heart to stop beating soo fast. But even before I rode it I knew that I had nothing to fear.
But yeah, don’t worry braden, you'll do fine. Allot of people have that kind of reaction with riding monster coasters. When I got off Dragster, I almost fell down the ramp because the experience made me weak at the knees! Was I scared? yes!, but did I feel safe? Never felt safer! Did I have the best ride ever? DARN RIGHT! :)

As for your fears of MF, it's a VERY smooth coaster! The view going up the lift hill is AWESOME, especialy around dusk. Beides, there is really not a bad seat on that ride.

My thoughts on MF: Before I knew anything about CP I was watching the TTD animation video, the one where the guy says from the top of TTD you will be looking down at Millennium Force. I thought that meant some kind of G force not a 310 foot coaster:). My first time to CP in 2003 I rode MF once during the day, it was great but not amazing. The next year I went to the park and decided I was going to ride it the first night I was there (because I heard on here that it is amazing at night) and boy was it.
As for being scared, I wasn't. For me I just see rides and ride them. I still feel (probably because I'm a teenager) that I can and will ride anything that I want. The one ride I get nervous about is the Ripcord. Every time before I ride it I say to my self this is the last time then after I'm like lets do it again.
braden I'm looking forward on your thoughts of MF after you ride it. Good luck!!! :)
