My question is wooden coasters such as the beast, son of beast I notice a metal like rope that attaches to the support and a concrete block what purpose does that serve? I've always wondered this when I rode the beast.
I'm pretty sure the main purpose of it is just to distribute stress in a specific manner.

Yeah, the Cables are for Extra Support... Like really cheap Wide Supports, you'll find them on most Woodies. Always on the inside of the turn for obvious reasons, and the Wide Supports on the Outside, the best example of this(that I know) is Wilde Beast at Canada's Wonderland.
