Winter needs to end. NOW!

God, I am so ready for opening day, but between us and opening day is another month of unending winter. Where I live in Newark, Ohio(an hour east of Columbus) we are supposed to get at least a foot of snow in the next 24 hours. Will it ever end? Am I the only one who is about to go completely nuts because this winter won't end? Can it be May yet? I want opening day!

I like snow and I've pretty much reached my limit this year. I think it's the cold that's really got me done with it. I don't think we're supposed to get quite as much here (Lorain county) but who knows. Between the holidays, staff days and the snow/cold days the school I work at has had only one full week of school since December 16.

Licking County has reached a low of -40 in January of this year. This is the point where I want to move south(Alabama, Florida, Texas, Georgia etc) We live in the Midwest,so we experience subzero temperatures all the time, but this is ridiculous. By the way, Newark High School(Where I go) has only had 2 full weeks of school since January 5th.

My school has had 2 full weeks since mid December. I can't even count how many POV's, off-rides, and vlogs I've watched this off-season.

I like the snow too, but I'm sick of the stupid negative temps that have come with it. Plus It's hard to get to work when we get hammered with this much snow. I agree that we need a warmup in the month of March, and I don't mean one day like we had last week.

Can anyone tell me how cold it's been in Licking County?

It was 81 today down at Six Flags over Texas for opening day. Kicking myself I didn't drive down for it. Next weekend I suppose.

Let's keep a couple weather-wise things in mind. It's winter, and today is only March first. Here in the Midwest we can and should expect this kind of weather. You folks here that are too young to remember don't know that we used to have winters like this all the time. We're currently spoiled by milder seasons the last 10 -15 years. Maybe that's a result of global warming, I don't know, but history shows that weather goes in cycles. We may be in for a long cold spell, not unlike the winters we had in the 60's and 70's.

Be glad you don't live in Chicago, Wisconsin, or Minnesota. Their warm weather season is much shorter than what we get in Ohio. I spent my 40th birthday, which comes the first week of October, at Six Flags in Gurnee. The temps were in the thirties, there was snow on the ground, and they sold hats, gloves, and tons of hot chocolate that weekend.

Time goes no faster or slower on account of weather. Your beloved Cedar Point will open on the scheduled day no matter how warm or cold it is between now and then.

RCMAC I remember that winter used to be like this when I was little but I wasn't on beta blockers and ACE inhibitors then. Just these past two years I've learned what it's like to not be able to get your fingers and toes warm. It sucks. The snow I've been fine with. Last year or the year before when they were hyping up the "snowmageddon" it was a bit of "yeah, so what" because I remember 1978 and that didn't compare. I'm glad there was actually enough snow this year for my boys to make one really good, big snow fort before they're too old to enjoy it. I've just had enough of being cold. The back end of my station wagon was frozen shut for at least a month which made grocery shopping inconvenient but I'm scared to yank or force it in case I break something I won't be able to find parts for.

An interesting note: The forecast for Monday March 3, has Sandusky OH with a high temperature of 11 F, and Anchorage AK at 34 F. Yes, its more than 20 deg F warmer in Alaska than Cedar Point.

I live about 90 minutes away from the park and got around 3 inches of snow this morning. Obviously the chances of this happening in May are slim, but would Cedar Point even open if 3 inches of snow happened to fall during the night before opening day?

Sure they would. Why wouldn't they? If 3 inches of snow fell in the middle of May, it would melt by 9 or 10am.
