Windy weather

Just a quick question. It looks like it's going to be quite windy this weekend (25 mph). At what point do they shut down the coasters? I would hate to travel all that way (4 hours) and find they are all shut down!

I know, it stinks! We are driving 4 hours also this weekend to CP. There are going to be gusts up to 45 mph. Im not so much worried about the ride part cause I dont do the crazy stuff, lol. I would though like to do some of the milder coasters. I just hope no rain. Have a great time!

They start shutting Skyride down at 20, a few rides at 25 and I think a lot more if not almost all of them with any height at 40. Hope this helps.

today sucked, it really wasnt all that windy and almost all the major rides were down. Only running ones were M-force, maverick, wildcat, blue streak, maxxair, and skyhawk. Dragster was opened off and on.

But there are only certain rides open on friday nights also.

It really was that windy, or they would not have shut down.

One thing I cannot stand is when individuals claim to have divine wisdom about conditions and whether or not rides should or should not be open. If there is one thing CP does great, it's making sure that every ride that can be open is, even if there are only 15 minutes left in a day.

If it was closed, it was too windy for it to be open. I get it, you're frustrated, but don't act like CP just threw there hands up in the air and said "screw you guys...I'm going home".

I was at the park last night and the winds were a big problem. Like hot boy Alex said, those were the only coasters open. Raptor actually opened around 930 but with only one train. Magnum was closed but later opened with 2 trains. This caused all the Halloween attractions to have very long lines, I waited about 50 min for happy jacks toy factory

Enjoy the rest of your day at America's Rockin' Roller Coast! Ride On!

At least CP made a post on their Facebook page today warning everyone about most rides being closed for wind. Stating that the winds aren't expected to die down till after 6pm.

Not only that, but they're updating facebook and twitter regularly as the rides open. A very very good move on their part.

Im just saying its kind or ridiculous to say its to windy to have magnum opened, when dragster is running at the same time. 200ft vs 420ft....come on, you ppl gotta see where im coming from

Except that they're complete different rides with different operating systems and different manufacturers. Wind causes TTD to roll back? Quick shutdown and reset, but not a huge problem. Magnum rolls back? Big, big, big deal.

No I don't see where you are coming from. In a strong wind and in colder conditions Magnum can valley and not make it over the 2nd hill which would cause a much longer delay than waiting for the wind die down in the first place.

^That delay is called not re-opening until they get the train back to the safety brakes :P

Rides were shutdown because of the wind...it was windy..I could hear the wind hitting windseeker as I went into work that morning...it was pretty bad

Needless to say my ride was open...It was a good and busy day...Don't really see any of you posting that Corkscrew was up...you guys suck :P

^ corkscrew was up :)

I was there Friday night and Saturday. We were able to ride Magnum when we went through the gate. We walked right on. That was around noon. I dont see how anyone can say that it wasnt really that windy, come on....It was horrible! The longest wait that we had was for Happy Jacks on Friday evening, it was 35 minutes. Dragster did open around 9-9:30 Saturday night. I dont know what its called when it doesnt make the hill, but we watched it three times come back down backwards. That ride looks insane! We had a great time and are already looking forward to next year! Thumbs up Cedar Point!

Magnum can valley in strong winds, Dragster is powered and anyway, a rollback on it is not an issue. You don't know what you are talking about.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

This guy said Magnum can have problems. I guess newbies dont know everything. What causes the dragster to rollback anyway?

But I might be seeing it differently.

They can build a Magnum XL-200 in Ohio, I don't see why they couldn't build me one here in Oklahoma.
