I am just wondering how much downtime the CP Windseeker has had. My home park is KI and it has had quite a bit of downtime. Getting to the point of people not very happy. We were there yesterday and it was down all day (hear early for maintenance and not sure why later). It was a beautiful night and we headed there and find it closed. I realize it is new, but they really need to get it running on a regular basis. So I am just wondering what downtime there has been at CP and CW.
CP's has been pretty good, imo. I heard the stories about it being down due to wind, but thats it.
Everytime I go there, it is running well :)
Maybe ours is just blessed.....
I wouldn't say blessed. It was down from last Wed around 3 pm and didn't open until Sat morning. I was there Fri (3rd trip and still no ride) and it rained in the am with some wind but it cleared up and was sunny and nice throughout the evening and they didn't even have any ride ops there. In fact, they didn't even light it up. All other rides operated for 90% of the day.

I guess I've been fortunate, I rode it on all 3 of my trips since it opened.

Well I am reading that people are told it can run in rain as well. But still lots of stories of people with many visits and the ride being down. I still wonder why they built a prototype in four places at once. If they did one and got it working, that would make much more sense. Then distribute to parks. So how is the CW windseeker operation? They seemed very eager to get that up and running no matter what. Wish they had webcams there as well to see it.

Wonder no more: Dick Kinzel.

You know, it's easy (and has become downright fashionable) to criticize the guy for taking risks when they don't pay off. But many of his risks have paid off quite well for the company.

Not criticizing at all. Stating fact. He ordered four.

It was down most of today (Tuesday) due to wind. Looks cool! Maybe I'll try again this holiday weekend.

So was it raining fathers? ;)

Ok, ok, cedar fair seriously makes me laugh.
Kinzel orders four prototype rides, which all end up being delayed, then plans to retire this january.
What a way to go out with a bang.......:)
Granted that I only glance at the webcams from time to time, but I seldom see this ride working. When I visited the park at the end of June, I did get on it, but that was after one failed attempt (it shut down while we were in line) and a lucky sighting that it was up the second time.
Anyone in the know have any stats on % of time (park operating hours) this ride actually runs? Seems awfully low to me. If so, and if the reason is wind, you gotta question the wisdom of this choice. As someone said in another post - a really expensive lawn (beach?) ornament.
Wonder if the new top boss will see this and shake his head in dismay.
Is there anywhere on the website that tells what rides are not running that day (like windseeker)? It appears now that Skyride, Windseeker are down and possibley TTD. Is it a very windy day there? They used to have a link/page that said when TTD was down. They should do that for all rides that will be down that day. Granted they dont want to tell you that, but better than heading out and getting there and major dissapointment.
