Windseeker down?

I've been checking the webcam fairly frequently the last week and haven't seen windseeker running once. Is it down or am l just catching it at the wrong time?

I have seen it up on the webcam this past week but can't remember the day. I was looking late this afternoon and everything visible but WT and MaxAir was down. The flags were really flapping so I guess Windseeker found what it was looking for.

It hasn't been running on all 3 trips we have made this season, same for the 3 trips to KI as well.

We were there Sunday through Thursday. It ran everyday at least part of the day. They were doing a great job of getting up and going as soon as the wind was acceptable. Also, It was windy enough a couple days for Gatekeeper to be down as well as as others.

I did notice yesterday that the huge American flag at the front of the park was straight out all day so I figured the wind was a factor. I just didn't remember seeing it run at all the past several days.

The winds were really strong over the weekend. On Sunday they were really high and there were a ton of rides down most of the day. From what I could see of the thrill rides Windseeker, Dragster, Gatekeeper, Raptor, Wicked Twister were down most if not all day yesterday.

My wife and I were at the park to visit Wed - Fri last week. Had a wonderful time. Rode Windseeker on Friday 6/16. Ascent went fine, but on descent, the ride stopped after only coming back down about a quarter of the way. Ride op says over speaker that they are having "mechanical difficulties" and are working on it. Then nothing but silence from them. Wife not happy and beginning to lose it. Reassured her that we were ok, and pointed out the rescue carriage over behind the aqua stadium. Other younger riders were not taking it well. 20 minutes after start of ride, we begin a very slow descent without any spin. All ended well, but CP should instruct their ride ops to use the speaker system periodically during the event to reassure guests and help avoid people panicking.

^ And that right there is the reason I rarely ride it.

And a Valravyn Evacuation with the small elevator car and ramps to assemble is going any faster than 20 minutes? People would freak out any less having to be released from their restraints and walk to the elevator on metal planks ?

Evacuating Valravn may not be faster, but I would bet heavily that it would "feel" safer than an evac on Windseeker. At least on Valravn there is a stationary structure beneath you as you descend.

So, yes, I think the average person would "freak out" less evacuating Valravn.

Do these things happen often? I know they had a lot of trouble with this ride in the beginning but I thought it was pretty well lined out.

Let me clarify. The ride descended, after the stop and the wait for a fix, under its own power. The rescue platform was not needed. It was the sitting in a chair with legs hanging and breeze blowing 200+ feet in the air with no further info on what was happening that was unnerving.

Understandable. I love dragster but l don't think I'd wanna be stranded at the top like what's happened 3 or 4 times.

I'm afraid of heights but that fear doesn't kick in on a roller coaster. I think being balanced at the top of Dragster would be awesome. Stuck on Windseeker? Nope, just nope.
