Winds ???

Just curious as to if there is an actual wind strength in which certain rides shut down. I'm hoping to head up to the point tomorrow and I know its supposed to be windy ( between 15-20 mph) Anyone been there with winds like this with major coasters still open ? Just curious... any help is greatly appreciated...
Sky Ride closes in winds around 5mph ;)
The only coaster that would have problems with 15-20 mph winds would be Dragster, and that's just if its blowing in the right direction. Although I guess it's a little late now....

Raptor closes in high winds too. It must be something with that part of the park and the way the wind comes off the bay.

Raptor apparently depends entirely on the direction of wind, I think south, where if strong enough it will prevent the train from making it up the spiral to the mid-course.

What time does the water show start?

I also think winds around 35 mph will shut down Millenium Force.

My wife and I figure we've been to the point a good 10-12 times this season. We've been able to get on the Sky Ride precisely twice in that time. We must bring the wind with us!

It's not war, famine, or pestilence; it's only downtime.

I hate high winds. They blow.

Mantis will go down if winds reach above 40 mph or if rain becomes extreme (and I mean really bad).

That is CP's greatest asset and perhaps it's biggest downfall, the park is wide open which is really beautiful on Lake Erie on a good day, but when the weather comes, it can cause havoc in the park.

I've been to Cedar Point 5 times, and have only seen Sky Ride close once due to the wind. I must be lucky...

As a general rule, Raptor can't send any empty trains when the wind is over 20, and will shut down when it reaches 35. I'm pretty sure Skyride will close for anything over 20, but it all depends on the situation. Believe it or not, the Giant Wheel will close for wind on occasion as well.

Jeff, you're right about a rollback from the mid-course. Apparently, there has even been times when they've had to worry about it not clearing the loop.
