I dont know if this was intentional or not but the new pointbuzz is dramatically bettr now when viewing from my Motorola Q. Well done guys! (Posted from my phone)
No, I only worried about how it would look on the iPhone, actually. :)

It looks pretty decent on Windows Mobile 5.
No side scrolling needed. The last version was awful at that.
Safari on iPod touch seems to do pretty well too. I'm still getting used to the keyboard though.

Well, that's the same browser that's in the iPhone.

Working great on Opera Mini and PIE too.
Actually after looking again, PIE will not display the login to the right of recent and search. Hmmm
EDIT: For some reason the login is pushed to the bottom of the page and you cant get it to do anything. After further looking at Opera Mini, the site is all jumbled around and the "Login" link doesn't work there either.
I'm running WM6 PocketPC, a little more sophisticated than a WM5 smartphone, no reason this site shouldn't at least "work" on Opera Mini since that's just a full browser made to display an entire page.
I was able to change a few settings and get Opera Mini (changed my settings to view as a mobile site) working but PIE is still all screwed up. I can click on the "join our community" and it will take you to the registration page but clicking on the "Login" link just before it does absolutely nothing.

^^ - yeah, I know. I was browsing on the iPod when I read that and decided to post.

Dream on. I'm not going to worry about browsers that .001% of users might use (especially since the AJAX stuff is framework code).

I didn't know you could browse the internet on an iPod now. Interesting. ;)

.001% of users using Pocket Internet Explorer? Interesting, I'd think if you were going to take the time to write new code you'd at least make it compatible with a mobile browser that more than .001% users are using NOW let alone what is to come in the near future.
I know, call me crazy. It's not like I was talking about Picsel or something, we're talking a default browser that comes with every Windows Mobile device.
What's even funnier is that CB's login and site works perfectly fine still in PIE.

The login stuff comes up some place weird on my phone. It comes up though, you have to look for it. After you're logged in once, it doesn't matter.
Its not perfect, you have to scroll to the bottom to login, but its definently functional. You can read and post easily as I am right now. Loopy ipod touch has wifi. I think I'll go send a picture message now :)

Were you not listening? I didn't write the framework code. I don't care about it either, because it does work for 99.999% of people who visit the site. There are more visitors from iPods in the stats. iPods!
Here's how Web development works: Make your stuff work for as many people as possible for the least cost. Mission accomplished. You can stand up and wave your hands all you want, but you're a fringe exception.

I never used any mobile browser other than Safari on the iPod and iPhone, but I'm guessing that mobile browsers are going to be very different in a year or two with Google's recent impacts and the iPhone effect putting pressure on the rest of the competition.

I'm kind of skeptical that Google will have any significant impact in pushing standards. They've actually been building out stuff for every individual platform because, well, they're Google and they can do it in their spare time. (Literally... code monkeys can work on whatever they want 20% of the time.) Honestly, given the power in handsets, there's no reason they shouldn't work exactly like desktop browsers. The iPhone influence has been positive in that it has really brought the UI gurus in to think about the "right" way to implement things. Digg, Gmail and Facebook have really cool iPhone specific apps, which generally work in any browser.

Login doesn't work (Malformed URL error) on Verizon's mobile browser, but other than that looks decent.

point buzz looks amazing on my iPhone it looks so amazing im using it now
What's Life If You Never Get To The POINT?...see yall in line!
I have one slight problem on my iPhone:
"Heading to the Point?" runs a bit out of place, and into the blue news section on the main page.
Otherwise, everything else looks good on the iPhone...
(as if you didn't know Jeff ;) )
Alright, if it was just Pocket Internet Explorer and Opera Mini that were screwed up I could almost stomach the "fringe exception" comment, but Blackberry's native browser (YES, THAT'S RIGHT.....one of the ORIGINAL PDA's) does not work either.
Obviously, someone was only worried about less than .001% when he/she decided this code was functional, namely themselves.

Keith: I haven't quite figured out what the specific rules are in the mobile version of Safari for up-sizing text. I think the navigation is something we have specific rules on for size, but I don't remember off hand. It's like it somehow knows it's important. CoasterBuzz has the same issue, with the navigation wrapping to two lines.
Still don't care about PDA's.
