Will they ever rotate the Mantis trains

I take it Mantis will be running two trains for a while now, probably into next season.

My question is, are they going to ever put Train 3 into service again for this seasonand rotate the other two out, and next spring will they just put two on the track?

Thats a good question, I can see them only putting two trains on next year and cannibolize the third train for parts for the other two trains.

That IS a good question.  Will CP continue to run two trains, or will they put in an unloading station?  Just curious, is it possible to make an unloading station and keep the block before the current station?
Well this is just out of curiosity, but all I hear is "well the Mantis Crew really can hit there interval." Well I say lets put the 3rd train back on an get this capacity up since theres alot of things being said that there quick. Why do we need an unload station if the Mantis Crew can hit there interval as people say. Yes it would be nice that would help as well but if they can do just as good as they say then we dont need it.

Trust me-- I finally saw the Mantis crew in action a few weeks ago, and a third train wouldn't change capacity in the least.

I didn't believe it till I saw it.

First of all, remember that adding an unloading station would significantly increase the number of crew members needed to operate the ride.

Second, if CP were to pull a train from Mantis, do you suppose they would pull Train #1, leaving #2 and #3 operational? :)

(note: Train #1 is the one that is missing from Mine Ride)

I'm baffled that this thing is in its 6th year of operation and all of a sudden they feel the need to use only 2 trains. Has this solved whatever problem it was having and better still, has it created a new problem?

I'm guessing too many complaints of trains consistantly stopping on the first set of brakes, causing slamming of riders into restraints, was enough to remove a train.  If it's going to constantly stack with three, why let it continue?

They funny thing is that I saw a train stop on the first set of brakes when running two??  Any ideas as to why?

Cause the first train was not clear?  Just a guess.....

Next trip to CP on August 25th - 26th!
The first set of brakes right before the corkscrew? I thought those were just trims and wow! I've never seen a train completely stop there before. Has it been doing this since it's creation, or has it recently started doing this because of some slacking?

...I think they mean the 1st set of the brake run, the one before the turn towards the station. I always knew when to brace myself if there was a train on the brake outside the station, but most people didn't :)

I rode it last Friday (with the two train operation) and periodically a train would stop (not slow down) very hard on the first set of brakes (as if there were a train sitting on the second block). I've always understood the braking system on coasters to be computer controlled and activated. Surely, it must be possible to modify those settings.

Also, since the maintenance department tears down and rebuilds every coaster train in the off-season, do you think that they will put it back on next season?

Sure its possible to modify the code, but if the train is coming to a complete stop in the service brake area (the first set of final brakes), that means that for some reaon the control system is not seeing the waiting area as not yet clear.  That can happen if the train in the station has not yet been fully advanced into its park position.  The only other reason that that might be happening is if the control system is experiencing an error.

I really should be working...

In my opinion, there is not a significant difference in "rider comfort" between running three trains and running two.  The train still slams in those brakes awfully hard and practically does come to a stop even with two trains.  They should at least modify the computer code to make the slowing less harsh.  Also, it takes forever for that train to come into the station which means that there is a lot of idle time that could probably be used by the crew to get people into the train.  The way it is right now is stupid.  It's really not much more comfortable now than it ever was and they're only moving 900 people per hour at best.  Either put the third train back on or change the way that first brake operates.
