Will Maverick appeal to all rollercoaster fans?

It is to my understanding from what i have read from everybody's posts about Maverick that the ride is an incredible experience. Many of you have claimed that it takes the throne as your favorite ride. I have read that it's a must-ride rollercoaster and the most intense rollercoaster at CP.

Last Sunday, a local organization held a trip to CP which composed of almost every friend i have. I could not go because of work. Anyways, to get to the point, of the 30 or so i got a chance to speak to after coming back home, none of them were too happy about Maverick. They claim the ride does not live up to all the hype it has attracted and is honestly just not all that. They claim the drops are better on many other rollercoasters, the twists and turns of the track can be compared to Mantis and Raptor, and has no single awe moment except for the second launch tunnel and that is only because it's a surprise.

So, my question is (since i have not gotten a chance to ride Maverick yet) whether Maverick is a rollercoaster of epic proportions that i MUST ride. From what i have read on here, it seems so exciting while too be fairly honest i was depressed when CP announced Maverick (because of it's lack of providing us with something different). I sure hope i am wrong though......So is Maverick just being overhyped because its CP's newest ride or is this ride really just another small project till we get something grand in a couple years? (ex: Wicked Twister between Millenium and TTD)

I feel the need to talk badly about the type of friends you have but i'll withhold and just say go ride and judge for yourself.

A small project in between big coasters??? $21 million seems like a pretty big project to me!

My two favorites at Cedar Point have been Millennium Force for it's size, speed, and length (Dragster, especially after working on it.. doesn't cut it for me, too short, but still a rush none the less)

Raptor is the other favorite, just because it's nonstop fun.

As I described Maverick to a coworker earlier today... "It kicked Raptor to the curb and told it about it's momma"

Easily seated #1 in my Fun department... it's a pretty good rush, too... the launch is a fantastic touch. You've got just enough time in that tunnel to process what just happened before the crazy starts again. Fantastic pacing, track-wise.. just like Raptor.

That's my take on it's appeal... anyone looking for a flat out FUN ride, is in for a treat.

2003 - Wicked Twister
2004 - Wicked Twister/Top Thrill Dragster

It was not what I expected, but it was a cool ride. It is definitely the most aggressive coaster that CP has. Very fast, quick direction changes, and some nice drops.
I would have preferred some other coaster, but as I get older, the jerkiness tends to not be as enjoyable as it used to be. So this opinion if from a 38 year old guy. Younger people may have different opinions. The ride is smooth, but the quick turns can jerk you around a bit. Nice queue, cool launch, first drop is great. It has a lot of good elements on it.

Just like Gravity said, it's really FUN ride, and I rank it right up there with Raptor in the fun factor. If you go to ride it and expect something mind blowing like MF or Dragster, then yeah, you're be dissapointed.

As air_time_bob stated, you have to go and ride the ride yourself and form your own opinion.

My opinion - the ride was pure FUN from start to finish. I wasn't entirely sure what to expect because in all honestly it has seemed like "a little guy" from the stats - you know, not the tallest, not the fastest, etc. But it sure packs a punch!! I've only ridden it one time thus far but I can't wait to spend more time on it. For me it's certainly a must-ride. Everyone in line around me who were on my train all loved it as well.

Its my favorite ride..the airtime hills are great...and the first drop with the last seat is like nothing ive ever expierienced before. The part when it goes over the pond it exciting also. very good ride. Thats just my opinion..but you should definitely get out there and ride it TTDrider.

Total Maverick rides for the 2007 season = 27

Top 5--- 1. Maverick- 2. Millennium 3. Magnum 4. TTD 5. Gemini

Cavs- 2007 Eastern Conference Champions!.-

I would not call Maverick "incredible" by any stretch of the imagination. I find it to be a good, solid ride that works well with CP's collection.

The airtime is intense - it bruised my shoulders being rammed into those way too hard restraints, the same way Storm Runner does.

They've got to hype the ride - that's how they draw people to the park. And the more they draw, the more rides they'll add, and the more stuff we get to ride.

To being an "us" for once - instead of a "them"

Well it's already been said Maverick doesn't break any records, but it is the very definition of a "fun coaster start to finish". Most other rides, with the exception of Raptor, are just one big moment and then the rest of the ride. Maverick smashes that idea and strings together a complete ride that you are sad is over when you exit.

But yeah, ride it for yourself and judge. :)
