Will it be busy this sunday?

Has anyone gone on Father's Day?
The 8 ball says...

It refuses to answer due to its being asked too many times.

I'm not sure of the waits, but it is CP's 'unofficial' gay pride day.

If Millennium Force doesn't go upside-down, then how could Mantis? *** This post was edited by force312 on 6/12/2001. ***
I think an "earlier post" establised it as Gay-Pride day.

i go every fathers day and the lines arn't usually that bad. But yes there are a lot of people there celebrating their "gay pride". Monday after is usually a lot worse for lines than fathers day.
I just got off the phone with the guy I'm going with. He said 20 minutes are the longest waits he had.

O.K., lets stop with the 8-Ball cracks. These people only want to have advice from experienced Pointers, not to be cutdown.

Ddogg; Mother's day wasn't too bad so maybe Father's day wont be either.

We go father's day weekend every year. Longest we have ever had to wait was 45min. for MF and Raptor... everything else is 5-10min wait tops. It's enjoyable, but there are some strange people out there!

Would you prefer a Ouija board?

There are so many variables as to whether the park will be crowded on a particular day that it's impossible to predict.

For instance, Kally says that Monday is likely to be more crowded than Sunday. While that was the case last year, in 1998 and 99, Monday after Father's Day crowds were non-existent.

Why would comparing a weekend five weeks ago (Mother's Day, while school is in session and the park hours are shorter) be a better indicator than a Magic 8-ball, Ouija board, the Psychic Friends' Network, or even Miss Cleo?

Coming soon to a park near Sandusky!
Dang, I didn't know we were going on Gay Pride Day! Oh well, long as the lines aren't bad and my parents aren't offended I'll be fine. Only 3 days till I leave for the Point!!

Trim brakes-a necessity???
Can't wait till my June 16-18 trip!
DBCahill; Smart remarks may be fine with you, but put yourself on the butt end. People simply want to have the most fulfilling experience they possibly can.

Miss Cleo is much funnier though. She's awesome!

Actually as a curious question, does CP have a crowd prediction schedule? Working at KW, we had one based past years' attendance for whatever picnics were going on and also the time of the year. It would be interesting to see if CP has one and what it looks like.

I really should be working...
I'm sure they do but I doubt that it's made public knowledge.. It's pretty easy to build a database on past performance, taking in weather, economic conditions, and new attractions predictions.

MF 2000 - 269 laps
MF 2001 - 73 laps as of (6/9/01)
June 11th, 2001 - Gemini 100
Wolfhounde, I made a crowd prediction schedule - http://www.experiencethepoint.com/crowdcalender.asp

Pretty nice Andrew! At least having something like that here might help keep down the enevetable, "Will it be crowded on X day?" question. The only question is is that just built on common sense or does that go off of specifics such as picnics or actual past attendance figures?

Actually though Rob, I'm not sure they would since CP is not as dependent on picnics and special days such as Kennywood is, which is what got me curious. All I know is NEVER go on Saturn Appreciation Day unless you don't plan on riding a lot. Ran into that by accident a few years back.

Speaking of, that brings up another question. IS there a schedule of picnics posted publicly anywhere?

Come on people...ENOUGH WITH "HOW CROWDED WILL IT BE ON FILL IN THE BLANK DATE?" threads...While I can appreciate your interest just look at the Cedar Point Schedule yourself...If the Park is open till Midnight (see Saturdays) it is NOT becuase CP wants to be running empty trains on the coasters...If the park closes at 8p.m. it is NOT because CP wants full lines of riders at 8 p.m.
(Andrew's calendar just mirrors the park hours nothing "scientific" about it)

Comments regarding Miss Cleo etc are warranted and WANTED when the same point is beaten to death.

If you want a TRUE "insider's" opinion about crowd levels here you go...One: AVOID SATURDAYS PERIOD, Two: Earlier in the year is better than later (except the last week of August), Three: If it is raining in Cleveland and/or Detroit between 7 am and 9am in the morning GO ON THAT DAY...This rain will reduce the crowd levels regardless the time of year you go. I am sure there is more than one person who can say a CP trip was postponed a day or two because of weather. "It's raining today son we will go tomorrow". "OK Dad"
Four: In order, from "lowest to highest" crowd days...Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Monday, Wednesday, Saturday.
Five: All of the above rules/suggestions can be ignored if there are two or three straight days of rain in Detroit and/or Cleveland, the first nice day will bring out the crowds.

Hope this is the last of the this type of topic.
