Will Cedar Point get an 18th coaster to remain the coaster capital?

^quantity isn't everything, but it sure counts for something.

Nah, they didn't tear them out, they just left them sitting around looking dirty, broken and unused. At least that was the case when I was out there two years ago.

Well... if cedar point lets magic mountain pass them up on the coaster capital... CP is screwed on their titles. They've lost the "tallest coaster in the world" already.. which helped them alot... and now they would loose the "Coaster Capital".... but theyve got two possible areas....

The clearing on Millenium Island, and possible removal of space spiral AND demon drop.

If you Google Earth it, youll see they connect behing a building. Part of the parking lot would be needed, but no more than 5 - 8 rows (im guessing) would be needed.

Other than in coaster-nerd circles, I honestly cannot fathom how having a self-proclaimed title like "coaster capital of the world", or even having a "tallest coaster" claim makes any difference whatsoever, especially for a park as established as Cedar Point.

They will always be "Amercia's Roller Coast", which I personally think is the collest tagline out there in the industry.

IMO, they have much direr needs than number 18, and this year's improvements went a long way towards addressing those needs.

They're not "screwed" as you say it, so what if Cedar Point has one less coaster than another park. I'm sure SFMM's coasters can't even compare to some of Cedar Point's yet alone the atmosphere of the park at CP. I guess I can't say I've riden anything at SFMM but what I've heard about Six Flags is that they like to pull Roller Coaster Tycoon moves, throw a coaster here, there and there. Sure SFMM has 17 coasters, sure they'll be the park with the most coasters, but are they as good as Millie, Magnum or Raptor and so on? That is what keeps people coming back.

As for taking down Space Spiral and Demon Drop, probally not going to happen (for sure not going to happen). Millie's island, who knows ;)

I do agree. Park improvements would be good.

But it doesnt make sense that they cant get # 18 and fix up the park.. seeing as how they barely did anything for the park this year.

(except a fountain, new signs, a stand, and a dryer) Those are improvements, but thats not much at all.

Something they need is to just beautify the park... Make it look like you arent surrounded by rollercoaster. I know thats bull, but thats kinda what they need.

They should build 4 kiddie coasters along with whatever the next big coaster is going to be. It'll take years for anyone to reach 22, so we won't have to hear this crap for a while.

Imagine a park with 30 kiddie coasters having the record.

But I seriously don't see anything wrong with getting an 18th coaster and fixing things around the park.

"I want to ride something more exciting than Kiddie Coaster 23" . . .

Knowing Cedarpoint, they will come up with something new and exciting in the years to come! i would be really excited if another coaster joins the Cedarpoint family, but I am speaking because I am a rollercoaster freak!

Instead of adding coasters, I think it be a good idea to "improve" coasters. Stay at 17, but replace MS with a record breaking woodie and turn DT into a state of the art dark ride/eurofigher.

^height, speed, length, unique ride elements, anything really. When CP goes, they generally go all out, so I think it be pretty cool to see what kind of unique woodie they would implement in the park.
