Wildwater Kingdom to open June 18...

I'm surprised I don't see a thread about this...

Geauga Lake has announced that Wildwater Kingdom is scheduled to open on June 18.

I should also mention that Bill Spehn noted in his talk to the CoasterEXT crowd on Saturday that there is no plan to separate the park into two gates any time in the forseeable future.

Well the water rides won't be open yet. I was there yesterday and on the brochure it says the water rides will be open the 28th. So, I'm not sure how much they have besides the water rides over there, but I thought the non-water rides were already open.

The map says that water attractions will open May 28th. And the wavepool and anything else that was left over from last year is indeed open. However, construction delays has forced Geauga Lake to wait until the 18th to open Wildwater Kingdom.

I was there Friday 6/10 and still looked like a lot of work needed to be done.

they have had a crew working the 3rd shift lately. they have been working under the lights to get things ready for saturday

Looking at the new construction pics that were posted on Monday, it looks like they're going to be ready. A lot has been done the last week. They'll pull it all together the last night.

I had my doubts but that park looks awesome! I can't wait to go there one afternoon and try everything out.

That is an absolutely beautiful water park! I love the color, the rocks and scenery and the abundance of landscaping. Even looks like it will have some nice shady areas.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

So with WWK opening on Saturday, anyone want to take a stab at guessing how busy the park will be on Friday? Friday is my day off so I think I will be making the 2 1/2 hour trek to Geauga Lake and hopefully get the park to myself. I really want to try Geauga Lake both before and after WWK opens this year to see how much of a difference it really makes in crowds. I hear it is looking to be a very nice water park so far, but unfortunately I can not make it for opening day, so Ill go the day before instead.

We should be very busy on the 18th. I am even having my crew come in a half hour early that day, to prepare. Tomorrow should have relatively light crowds, as it is still a weekday, though you never know for sure. Since GL's crowds are driven by group sales, the busiest days tend to be ones with school/camp groups and company picnics!

Don't forget to visit me at the monorail while you are there!
