I just got an email from Cedar Point, saying that starting August 1st, Platinum Passholders can bring a friend to WWK for free. 1 Free friend per passholder per day, valid until September 7th.

This summers rain and cool temperatures is probably not helping their attendance much and they are probably hoping to make some more money from this.
I know that's true - there have been several days that I've had plans to go for a few hours, and wound up canceling because the storms rolled in, or we woke up and it was 65 degrees.
This is the first mid-July I've ever seen someone sitting outside at 7:30 AM wrapped in a Snuggle.
What happened to summer? We haven't had a decent summer in about 3 years, although this weekend looks like it will be hot. Temperature wise, I think this summer is better than last year, but it's rained alot. And now scientists are saying there could be a mini ice age around 2030, which I'm calling BS on.

I don't tolerate heat well so I'm just fine with the temps. I haven't gotten the email but if I can take my kids' friends for free I might be more inclined to make the trip to WWK. It always seems like an easier drive to Soak City even though I think they're an aqual distance from me.
I didn't get this email either. I think I chose not to receive emails back when I signed up for my pass. Alex, could you possibly post a screenshot of the email? Or I can PM you my email so you can forward it to me.

WWK offers deals to platinum season passholders that are not always advertised (I posted about this earlier in the season). It's best if you follow them on facebook or call them yourself to see what the discounts are. This year they are automatically loaded onto your season pass. They had the bring a friend free in June and now extended the offering to Aug because of the crummy weather.
nothing. Zilch. Zip. $0.
This offer is valid for Platinum Passholders Aug. 1 through Sept. 7, 2015; one free friend per Passholder, per day.

I found it on their Facebook page.

I got the email today. Thing is, I was very discouraged last time there last season. They are limited on staff so they alternate on areas open to guests. Also, the lazy river never has enough rafts, I am hard pressed to "rent" a raft when Soak City has them in abundance for free, they are never out.

What month/date did you go? I"ve gone about a dozen times over the past 3 seasons and never had those issues :( Maybe that happens toward the end of summer when kids go back to school and they are not fully staffed?
Interesting you had those issues. I was at the park this season on a very busy July 3rd and experienced none of those issues and was actually quite impressed with the park... for what it is. There's so much potential here. I wish they could get some cap ex. Its been 10 years since anything of substance has been added. Even a small mat racer slide could help disperse some lines and improve the place a lot!
Anyone remember back in the day when GL closed all the haters said the water park would be gone the next year? Funny how that turned out...
... and as we all know, all of those people who said they would never step foot in CP again have of course stepped in again.
I haven't been to WWK since Geauga Lake closed. If I can bring a group of my kids' friends for free I'll be motivated and now that we all have platinum the kids are going to insist on it at least once this summer but otherwise once the rides were gone it's just not a big pull for me. I can only do so much water park in a day before I'm just done. At Soak City when I'm done I can change and go ride coasters.

We have a correction to the recently-announced Platinum PassholderBring-a-Friend Free to Wildwater Kingdom offer that begins .
Here are the updated details: Platinum Passholders are invited to bring-a-friend for free, any ONE time between .
It might have been August when we went, before school started. Glad to hear they are staffing well so far this season. Maybe we'll try it again. I still don't know why they don't stock enough rafts like Soak City, though.

I do think think time at Wildwater Kingdom is quite limited, especially with the current Meijer deal going through, I will say I'm impressed it stayed this long, especially with next to no updates every year since being a stand alone waterpark.
But considering how dealing with Aurora and Bainbridge is a constant struggle from the start until now, I wouldn't be surprised to see Cedar Fair pull out of those two counties for good.

Maybe Soak City will get an update if they move some of there water rides to CEdar point!! Or maybe carowinds is getting some with there water park expansion!

We went to WWK today and there was a very nice sized crowd. It's sad that no other attractions have been added to this place. It really is a gorgeous water park (aside from the fact that the old parking lots that haven't been used in years are starting to get overgrown).
On a side note, I believe the old coral courtyard tents have been resurrected at WWK at their version of Lakeside Pavillions.
Those tents at WWK have been there for years, and the blue safety mesh around the poles were considered a new investment 2-3 years ago. There's a video of Bill Spehn talking about it somewhere... It's quite comical.
I've been to WWK twice this year, both weekdays, and the place has been packed both times. Very unfortunate a new slide complex can't be added, at least. If you haven't been there in a while, not much has changed, but I recommended checking it out. It's a beautiful and well maintained place.
