Wildcat Replacement 1979

Something I've always been curious about is why Cedar Point removed Wildcat in 1978 (it went to valleyfair) and then proceeded to install another Wildcat (the one in the park today) of the same model for the following season. I've searched for an answer and got no results, so if anyone can elighten me that would be great.

Probably similar to how Dad gets a new car while the 16 year old gets his old one.

It was better for CP to get a new one and pass the old one off to a park that needed it. Wouldn't work for most rides, but with an already "portable" coaster its pretty easy to do.

Haha Jugga, I wished that's how it worked in my house. My dad told me if I wanted my own car to buy one. I used my own money, pay for my own gas, and my own insurance. However, when you're a multi-million dollar amusement park, that is how it works. :)

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

That's how I wish it worked at my house too. I had to do the same as Vince about a car.

Once you get one though, it's great isn't it?

I believe the removal of the Jumbo Jet had a lot to do with the new Wildcat model coming as the new version was built were the Jumbo Jet was located not were the original ride was located. The Jumbo Jet was very popular in the early seventies. It was considered a major thrill ride back then. I believe it had the tallest height limit of any ride in the park. I know when I went in 1976 I was still to short to ride it but by the time I was tall enough it was gone. I also remember Jumbo Jet breaking down a lot.

It is interesting how the Wildcat has become a classic ride I don't think there are too many left. It is a fun coaster.
