Wicked Twister: Maybe Not the First

On coasterbuzz there was a forum talking about V2. It was saying how in 2002 it will have "a new twist" and "will be the first ever". I hope this isn't true. Bot it may be because 6flags marine world opens before Cedar Point this year.

If this happens it would be all out war...I'm not even kidding. I'm sure CP will hear of this and they will pull something from their sleeve!

They better not be adding a twist.  Stealing ideas from WT is not cool!  This is just another reason as to why I am anti-Six Flags.  I agree with pezmanguy, if they add a twist and V2 opens before WT, it will be all out war.  IMO there is nothing CP could do to keep SF from stealing the first of a kind record seeing how SFMW opens in March.  There is no way WT would be ready to go by March.

I had the choice to visit Six Flags in Cleveland last summer with my family. I declined for the plain and simple reason that it wasn't Cedar Point. There is no way that I will ever go to an amusement park and find a greater ride selection than Cedar Point. I am anti-Six Flags as well and always will be. I love ya Cedar Point.
Don't think so for what I read in the news release it will only be a Single Spike Wicked Twister is A Double Spike a lot taller, Faster , and only at the best of the best CEDAR POINT

You are so lame.  You don't go to another park simply because it's not "the best".  You obviously aren't a die-hard coaster fan.  A real enthusiest would go for one reason and one reason only:  there are rollercoasters there.

Anyways, it seems like V2 here at SFMW will indeed trade the straight spike for the twisted one.  The back brake only worked for all of about three weeks before it started to have serious problems.  Go here: http://www.sfmwonline.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=261&postdays=0&postorder=&start=45   for a topic on the subject at sfmwonline  (this is page four of the thread).  I understand that this could make many of you very angry (I don't blame you)  but it's not like CP has a patent on it.

A real enthusiast would know how to spell enthusiast! ;)

...And don't forget, like SuperCoasterDave said, Wicked Twister is still the taller AND the fastest.

Well, if they put a twist on the straight track that doesn't bother me too much, just as long as they don't make it taller.

I don't think CP should have even made a big deal about the double twist, I don't think it's that big of a deal to the GP.

Sounds to me like they may just be tilting the angle of the track.  I could really care less if they do this, but I will be really ticked off if they steal the twisted back spike!

Ok. When I went to Disneyworld with my family about five years ago, I was looking forward to some good rides. Even Splash Mountain can't compare to Snake River Falls. The only difference is that it's a five minute themed ride of Brer Rabbit and then you go down a hill and don't even get wet. I figured after waiting 2 hours in 90 degree heat, I would get cooled off. I got more wet on snake river falls then that ride. They had a runaway railcar ride as well that was slower and less exciting than the Mine ride. You can also tell the people who never go to Cedar Point because they thought it was the scariest thing they have ever ridden. Space Mountain was the only half-way decent ride their and it's very comparable to DT. When you wait for 2 hours to ride a ride, you expect it to at least be fun. Those ones weren't really fun at all. I know that there are people out their that enjoy other amusement parks as well. They are allowed to do that and their is nothing wrong with it. However, in my opinion, I go to amusement parks to ride rides. If the rides don't thrill me then their is really no point. Cedar Point has the greatest ride selection ever with the most coasters. So, if I'm looking for thrills, which I always am, then I go to Cedar Point, Plain and Simple.
This thread is more evidence of how petty and stupid the world has become. Who gives a rat's butt if Six Flags build 2, 478 double twisting impulses? Will that make Wicked Twister any less enjoyable? Will it distract you that much? Are the rumors true that "all" CP fans care about are records and world's firsts? You guys are, once again, living 'down' to your image.
Amen to that, brother.

I grew up at CP (at least one visit a year since I was 6) and it always holds a special place in my heart...but in the early 90s when SFGAM built Iron Wolf and B:TR, it was Cedar Who?  Cedar What?

If I lived closer to SFMM than CP, I don't even think I'd remember how to spell Cedar right now.

I don't understand pledging loyalty to a single park.  I love just about all of them for different reasons.  I love VF because it's right around the corner, MA for the rustic, homespun feel, CP because...well, it's CP, SFGAM for their Schwarzkopf and its low height requirement(!), PKI for being the most well-rounded park IMO and so on and so forth.

Can't they all just get along?

-'Playa

Who really cares what a park on the other side of the country is going to do?  How many of you are going to go to SFMW anyway?  How many people, period, outside of California are going to go to that park?

These park "wars" are wars of words and you all are the soldiers.  WHO CARES?

Ha-Ha-Ha-Ha ! !   I couldn't stop laughing....

*giving Rob #3 and CPlaya a pound*
Y'all were the first to speak some sence on this issue. This is *exactly* the reason that half the so-called enthusiast world hates "CP diehards". The majority of CP fans like Jeff, Raptor-Jo and Sean F. can easily appreciate things that happen in other parks.

Then you have these fringe member "Lunatics" who feel that anything good that happens elsewhere is bad for their homepark. This is the third such outcry that I've heard in the last 12-13 months.

First CP was best because it had the most coasters. When SFMM announced they would soon have 15, loyalists flipped the script and said "Quality over Quanity" (Which *they* dont even belive otherwise they'd be BGW fans...)

Second it was claimed that S:TE @ SFMM wasnt really a coaster and shouldnt count. Merits of the argument aside, it seemed a cheap attempt to hold on to a record. As if CP suddenly sucked because they lost one record (as if!). On and for the record, I never saw Robin Innes say S:TE was NOT a coaster. Merely that it takes a "liberal interpretation" of what a coaster is.

Now we have this ish. HOW DARE YOU accuse Six Flags of "stealing"! What freaking high horse are you on? Did adding another twist *really* distinguish WT over S:UE and V2squared? Come on, admitt it you are being petty and lame. And on top of that, you are *still* trying to hold on to a record (the taller, faster thing) that very few people care about.

At this point, I think it's time to institute the "Putzian Plan":
Turn off the computer.
Go outside.
Purchase an ice cream cone.
Enjoy.
Repeat if necessary!

Basically, take it easy :)

...Amen!

If V2 is the first double-twisting impluse, I really don't have a problem with that. I mean, when I head out west this year I would be able to ride a "double-twistin" impluse, if they are changing it to that.

What I don't understand is way some of you aren't happy to see such a perhaps great ride element be brought to other parks. This past summer I got addicted to Power Tower(rode it 75 times), and needless to say when I entered a park without such a ride I was *alittle* disappointed. When I visited a park with one, whether it was a Six Flags or Cedar Fair park or whether it was the tallest or fastest, I enjoyed it. The same, most likely will hold true for WT/V2. Look at it this way, you have more chances of riding a doul-twisting impluse! Like Rob said, by perhaps adding a another twisted spike, that doesn't change Wicked Twister.

Also, how many people in the Midwest actually heard of SFMW. Yes some know about SFMM/CP thing because its been in the paper, but to 95% of the park guests, they would think Wicked Twister is the first. Heck, I didn't no much about V2(and its updates) until I read this post.

"stealing"..
Pretty funny seeing how the rights to design belong to Intamin and wait.. who built both?? Oh my bad..
Two different markets people. Get over it. This is almost as bad as the peope who insist there is a SFMM vs. CP war.
