Wicked Twister Launch Question

I was wondering how come when they launched it when i was riding they went launching in 321 saying it extremely fast and then it went but all other times they went real slow? It was pretty cool though, but a bit fast.

The ride op gets to push the button to launch. So he decides the speed to go 321.

I love the suspense and I love when the ride host messes with you! It makes it more fun! "3........2...1" or "3...1...2." If I worked at WT, I would have so much fun with the launch countdown!

"3...2...what comes after 2?"

"10...9...uh oh..1"

lol

The fast countdowns are so we could hit Interval. The train is supposed to be halfway through the station going backwards the first time at the metallic "grind" at the end of the auto-spiel music, and the "ping" after that is supposed to happen as the train stalls out on the back spike.

It takes ~2 sec after the button for the LIMs to energize, so we have to time it right. Therefore, if we hit the button immediately to get Interval, we only have 2 seconds to say "Clear, launching in 3, 2, 1."

Unfortunately, we can no longer have fun with launching; it's always "Clear, launching in 3, 2, 1" now.

Not to be confused with Twisted Wicker 08 from 2002

And last year, and the year before that. ;) It's tradition to have fun with the launches... up until you get supervisions attention.. then you go right back to the boring launches. ;)

Yesterday (8/16) she was shooting em out pretty fast, doing a "Launching in 3 **launch** 2, 1" kinda thing. Sure was hilarious seeing and hearing that :)

I love it when they do that.

Sometimes they trick you and say 3-2 and then there is no 1 they just launch. Its a lot of fun when you come back into the station and the ride op asks how was your ride?!?! WICKED!!

Are you required to alert the riders of the impending launch? I think it would be kind of cool just to get that small rush of adrenaline from not knowing when you are taking off.

<3Mav

You are required to warn of the launch, and in proper fashion (ie: the boring launch of "3,2,1,*launch*)

Otherwise, it's viewed as a lawsuit waiting to happen. Yes, we coaster junkies might love the rush of not really knowing when the launch will happen.. but the GP doesn't share that same view.

"Boring" launch? The ride needs a trick countdown to be exciting?

I remember they wouldn't tell you when it would launch on Superman at Six Flags OH. It just kind of happened.

The day Dragster opened, the Christmas tree was not up and neither were the lights on the tower. Who else rode it that day? And, how awesome was that? But yes, that is a lawsuit waiting to happen.

Yeah, it was just not painted.

(I also just want to throw this in)Here's an idea for a launch sequence.
"1...2...skip a few, 99...launch!!" :)

I'm not trying to plug my site in anyway here, but here are pictures from opening day 03:

No lights on the tower

The Christmas tree was not completed, and the lights were not operating.

The lights were not on the tower, but the Christmas tree was operating because I saw it with my own eyes.

They had the holes for the light, but the lights weren't there yet.

I remember working on Wicked Twister and my arms were just a little short. Or maybe it was just me. I was trying to press the launch button and speak at the same time. I aparrently didnt push the button all the way down... "Clear launching in 3,2,1 (nothing happening)" lol!! "ooooooooonnnnnnnneeeeeeee"! then it went.

OR

Clear launching in 3,2 (train flies out of station before i say 1) ahahaha *that wasn't on purpose either*
