Wicked Twister - Did You Notice?

Did you notice the electrical buzzing noise that came through the speakers when the LIM's were fired?

What else have you all noticed but haven't seen mentioned yet or what is odd about the ride?

Already mentioned, but the swaying of the spikes is...interesting :)

Its funny watching people freak out about it. While i was waiting in line, the people in front of me we saying that it was gonna snap off. heh

Same when I was in line, this lady ahead of us was freaking out! It was pretty funny!

Maybe it will snap off - CP now has a history of that...

Seth...Yes, I noticed that on Thursday. I also noticed a couple of other details about that buzz...

1) That the frequency of the buzz matches the LIM operating frequency

2) That the LIM operating frequency is the same on all five passes

3) That the LIMs are not energized on the final forward pass

4) That the LIMs are apparently operated at a lower frequency when 'jogging' the train backward into the station.

Yes. You can tell all that by watching the ride and listening to the speaker hanging on the back side of the stadium, over the ride queue. :)

While not as interesting as the previous replies, what I noticed is that the up-stop wheels for the train seem unusually large for a coaster. And unlike most other coasters, the up-stops are fastened tightly to the track. They didn't leave the smallest gap between these wheels and the track itself.

There was someone in front of me who said he alredy had a pool going to see which tower would break first, but I'm pretty sure he was kidding. My guess about the large upstops is that if you think about the way it twists on the towers, all three sets of wheels will end up getting used a considerable amount. This would also explain the tightness, because if there were gaps, it would give the train a little more space to bang around while twisting. Just my guess though.

Something else I noticed, and it could just be perception, is that the stop at the end of the ride felt a little less sudden, as if the brakes released sooner. If that wasn't the case, it would be a good idea, to let the train's momentum carry it further into the station instead of relying on the LIM's.

When the train I was on rolled back into the station, it went a bit to far and the LIMs had to fire to advance it forward again. I only rode once though so I don't know how common that is. Maybe it even happens every time, but I doubt it as it seems to be a waste of time. The train does come back in kind of slowly. Maybe they can tweak that a bit to cut a few seconds more off the interval.

MDOmnis, the train was doing that just before they shut WT down for a bit. When it came back up, the train didn't "ride up" the back tower again. It's not supposed to do that.

Before the queue line goes under the spike and into the station, there's a large sign that says, "No Food or Drink beyond this point" or something to that effect. Adjacent to that was a small area for a stool, presumably for a ride host to sit and enforce this rule. Does MF have a similar setup, I can't remember? I remember having to throw out my drink before getting in MF's queue the first season.

Not WT related, but Lusty Lil's was indeed changed to Palace Theater

I think there is a sign at the bottom of the ramp that says "No food or drink beyond this point."

There's also a sign in the station that says to keep your legs inside the cars at all times.

- The Darling one
"Danger: Hgih Voltage" -The DT Queue
"Those weren't trims, that was a buzzcut" - A Mean Streak rider

I remember vividly in the MF queue a sign saying "No food or drink beyond this point" with a trash bin underneath the sign.

"Keep your legs inside the cars at all times".. is this why everyone is all sore then? :)

Actually, that spot is where a ride op is checking for Freeway stamps.

I just have to say the sway of the towers is amazing! I was waiting in line during heavy winds last night and it was blowing all over the place... then when I rode it again later it didn't shake too bad, but thats a lot of unsupported track.

When the people in front of me in line saw the sway one started telling the story of vertigo, which didn't help the worried people around him.

Ahhhhh! I'm very ignorant of the swaying of the towers so I was like "What is going on here?"
It's kind of disturbing, so I'm like {to one of the worker} "Dude, the towers are swinging!", he's like "Yeah, there supposed to, it releases the tension."
After I knew it was normal I was like. "Eh." It was pretty funny watching everyone else flip about it too.

While I was there, not only did they yellow track "sway" (I call it bouncing) the green towers were rocking and Squeeking too!
