Why the red white track at the start of ride?

I have never heard anybody from CP or anybody on this forum explain what's
the propose for the red & white track from the launch to part way up the tower. Someone please inform me.
I would imagine it's for two reasons:

1. to give the feeling of increased speed at the beginning (seeing the colors blur by)

2. to give in to the dragster theme.

Just a guess though.

it will make it feel like it is going faster when the colors blur.

That's gonna be so cool watching them blur together.

Too bad the train isn't floorless blasting down the track at 120 mph. Watching them blur together underneath would probably make the track look pink.

Thanks for adding to the conversation Draken! (Sarcasm) Anyways, I didn't like the idea of multiple colors, but after seeing picture after picture, the idea is growing on me. I think this will definitely become one of the trademarks of this ride.

Drew, I agree 100%. I can see it now:

"Come to Cedar Point, home of the. . .

. . .420 foot tall coaster? No.

. . .120 MPH launch? No.

. . .red and white alternating track? YES! YES!! OH GOD YES!"

. . .wait, no.

Don't some dragstrips have red and white checkerboard at the starting line? The brake run and deceleration track should have been black and white to be like the checkered flag and finish line, just to add to theme some more maybe.

Just a thought.

I don't think I've ever seen a checkered flag in a drag race though...or any flag for that matter :)
I think the red and white looks riduculous. I could understand if maybe the whole launch did the same paint as the turn, but it doesnt. It just looks like they randomly decided to put stripes on the ride. Thats just my opininon. And i think the black and white would be even worse.

What the heck are you talking about you nutcase? A trademark? Holey cow. I liked the response by Live Entertainment....haha.

Right right, the checker is in Nascar and lap races, forgot.

I think the white track will just add to the theme.

Except for the "checkered" pasts of some of the people in the stands.

This is from [an old episode of] SNL's Weekend Update with Jimmy Fallon and Tina Fey:

Dodonpa, the world's fastest roller coaster, is set to open later this month in Japan. Unfortunately, only eight people in Japan are tall enough to ride it.
