Why doesn't CP offer reduced admission for the disabled?

Having a broken arm isn't truly disabled. That is temporary. Most people with real disabilities have them for life. And, I can see no difference in ticket prices for Disney. There is much more to do there than Cedar Point.

Cedar Point went "pay one price" in 1970.

When did they do away with the "pay one price" deal?

Cedar Point is still pay one price. You pay one price at the gate instead of buying tickets to spend on each ride.

I will say that Cedar Point will make money anyway they can, I mean they are a business. I don't agree at all that there are no discounted admissions for seniors or the disabled, even though there are discounts for military personnel and their family? How is that not preferrential treatment? Now I hate to bash the military as my brother is in it, but the people that have time to go to the amusement parks usually aren't the ones in combat. Hell Cedar Point even charges a toll to drop people off at the park.
What I meant by POP is that they stopped using wrist bands for the 74 season. Paid your money at the gate and walk in. We didn't have to check them at each ride.

You say that like there are some in combat who have had time to visit Baghdad Disney.

The way things have been going either A) the senior discount will be back next year after the bad press or B) there will be no discounts. I would like to see a disabled pass as well, but there isn't really an easy way to do it because you would have to wristband (stamps wash off too easily) everyone but those that are handicapped and I think the logistics of it wouldn't work.

Anyway, thats my 2 cents

. The old argument to simply say just because you can’t go on rides and just see the shows, so pay the same price I think is bogus. I’d bet Live E’s budget is much less than Ride Operations/Ride Maintenance, and when is the last time they spent 25 million on a show ;). Live E at CP is GREAT, but there are only a handful of shows compared to rides. Yes, disabled and elderly people can still ride some things, such as CP&LE RR, the Ferris Wheels, Antique Cars, etc., but they certainly don’t invest as much or at all anymore in those kind of rides.

Places like Disney or Universal can get away with it simply because the ratio of Gentle Rides that anyone can ride, such as small world, Mr Toad,, etc and shows compared to number of intense thrill rides is much better than CP. Also they invest a ton more into those kind of rides compared CP. Even PKI has invested more in “family” type attractions, like Scooby Doo and the haunted castle, and they offer discounted admission.

Incidently, anyone notice that 1999's Camp Snoopy brought as many people in the gate as 2003's Dragster (3.3 Million). :) *** Edited 7/20/2004 4:11:49 PM UTC by Joe E***

Why would you put wrist bands on everyone else but the hadicapped? Isn't that backwards?
JuggaLotus's avatar
No...If you give the handicapped wristbands, whats to have someone who's got a bum knee and says at admissions that the doctors told him he can't ride. He gets a wristband, makes a quick stop in the Men's room and removes the bracelet and now paid a reduced admission to still be able to ride all the rides.

That's the reason you would need to wristband everyone else in order to denote who paid the "riding" admission and who paid the "watching" admission.

Maybe they should make everyone bring a doctor's excuse. ;) I was really referring to the people who are handicapped. Someone with a bum knee can still ride.
JuggaLotus's avatar
That's what I'm getting at though, someone with a bum leg can still ride, but if all it takes is an official looking note from a doctor, that can easily be faked. So that type of system could easily be abused, hence the whole needing to wristband everyone else.

Yeah, I know...I was just kidding. Hence the wink at the end of my sentence.
