Why does to CP less often seem just fine with me?

Hey guys,

I have gotten a season pass for CP/GL several times in the past few years and loved it. I was bummed about GL closing and that is the main reason I did not get a CP pass the last 2 years. I love CP dont get me wrong but with GL being so close to my house and having that more traditional park feel, I would naturally visit there more often but still managed to get at least 4 to 5 visits to CP in as well. Anyway the past year I just visited CP 2 times last summer, one for Fathers day (yes gay day). And one other time with a free ticket from my brother for his company picnic. I dont know but it seemed like I had a little more fun each time beacuse it was a little more exciting to be there and knowing that I wont be back for a long time. I stayed open to close both days and had a blast! It just seemed like I was a kid again.

Also my partner and I drove to Florida in August and rented a house about an hour from Orlando. We hit up Universal Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios as well. So maybe I had my park fix for the year I guess. I do not plan on getting a pass this year but I do plan on visiting of course. I just think that this past summer for me less was actually more. You know what I mean? Plus I also was dissapointed in the food prices as well. I am not a complainer and knew ahead of time what to expect but we always hit up Famous Daves anyway. It is a nice break in the day and is actually cheaper than any of the in park food as far as value for the dollar. I did pack snacks and drinks in the car also. We did still buy some snacks and beverages in the park but kept it to a minium of course.

I will always love CP but I just cant justify going so many times as I used to and spending the amount of money I used to while there.

Just a little off season discussion here.

Have a good day everyone!

***Hey all*** I realize I messed up on the title of this thread and tried to fix it to add the word "going" between the words "does and to". I am aware of this typo and tried to fix it for your viewing pleasure but gave up after a few times*** :)

It is nice that to see you recognized the grammar from the Iraqs because the US Americans dont have maps.

Promoter of fog.

Get tired of the same stuff.

It is proven we enjoy things less as we are more adjusted to them. Buy that car you want, and it is the most fun in the first 6 months. After that it starts to become just another car.

I hate to be the sour puss around here but it is the truth. Limiting your CP visits might actually make you enjoy the park longer.

This one is hard. I went 13 times last year. 10 with just my sister and the other 3 with family or friends. It seems that the more people the worse the trip is. My and my sister ride what we want and 99% of the time its the same thing. More people just take longer to get to each ride and then lining up in the stations to be on the same trains. Not fun for me except on a couple of occasions like i said. Anyways i have never in the last 5-6 years not stayed from open to close and every year i go more and more. I see the point you are making. I think for me going on like 5 non busy days would make those trips really amazing and stand out but i don't do it. It's going to be harder working there in 09', but i will see with the amount of visits. I am going for 15 this year not counting work.

I think there is a truth to the fact that the more often you go, the less special it seems. It's been almost 10 years since the days where I would only visit once a season, but those visits seemed a lot more exciting. The first year I had a season pass was pretty exciting too, but I think that had a lot to do with that being the first summer I had a license and was free to do what I wanted.

And maybe I'm crazy, but I think there is something to be said for waiting in longer lines. For whatever reason, I think the ride seems a lot more "worth it" if you've waited an hour as opposed to just walking on. Not to say I like waiting, but it's just a connection I've drawn. If you look at rider's reactions (the cheering and etc.) when the trains return to the station, people are generally a lot more excited if they've just waited for two hours than they are if they got on in 5 minutes.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

I think you're certifiable there... Call the rubber truck, we're putting you in a round padded cell...

I really do understand. I actually dont mind a 20-30 minute wait for a good ride. It builds up some excitment, you get to people watch and it just adds a little excitment as you finally reach the stairs and platform.

^ I totally agree. Don't get me wrong i love those trips in the beginning and end of the season where everything is pretty much walk on, but i actually don't mind waiting. It does build up the ride to make it more intense even though you have rode it a thousand times. I am not talking about Saturday in July waiting here, but 30-45 minutes for the top rides on a weekday in June or July isn't to bad. It kind of builds up the atmosphere that makes up CP. Anyways i will take all the walk-ons i can get and certainly won't complain.

Im really fine with waiting up to two hours for good rides, however if the lines are that long on a day Im there, Im only riding those rides a total of 3-4 times or I make sure Im there early to knock off some of those rides during ERT.

If a coaster is <30 min Im probably going to ride it when I pass it on the midway.

I wish that we were getting a new ride at CP! I do miss having both Cedarpoint and Geauga Lake to go to! I am trying to make it to either Florida or California this year, but we have to see the job situation will be our deciding factor!

Life is like a rollercoaster! It is full of ups and downs

Last year was fantastic for me. I went to CP for three different weekends throughout the season, and spent 7 days (some not full days) in the park. It really worked out well. I got a big dose of the park and then a decent break to build up the fever again. Although I don't think I'd be too upset living close to the park ;)

Its a different mindset living close. For one thing, your list of "must ride" rides you have to do every time shrinks quite a bit. You also end up doing rides that you simply realize, hey I haven't been on that ride in a while and it has a short line so why not. You also end up doing things you normally wouldn't do (for instance for me I usually prefer a back seat but every few visits Ill wait for the front row of a coaster just for a change of pace) and stop rushing around the place. Shows, Soak City, and taking time for a nice meal start sounding a whole lot more exciting.

You also start heavily anticipating Halloweekends, because all those attractions you only experience a handful of times and you start thinking of all those short lines and the 5-7 hours of nightime coaster riding youll get once they start.

In short, a day at the park ceases to be "an event" and instead morphs into a way to relax and unwind. Im looking foreward to this year though, during June I will actually be living in Sandusky so hitting the park for the last 2 hours of operation most days is going to be a lot of fun.
