There has to be a reason that CP opens a month after WOF its sister park. The weather looks perfect to ride a coaster. Maybe it is a Ohio/Illinois thing. Both SFGA and SFWOA both open on the same day. Just curious though.
Weather... that and school.. Alot of the people who work there are still in college.. SWWOA uses alot alot local teens and such.
And SFWOA only opens like 2 days before CP if I remember.. big deal...

MF 2000 - 269 laps
MF 2001 - ???????
SFWOA just opens one day earlier.
Mainly it is the weather. Ohio weather is unpredictable, and snow is possible until the middle of April.
Yup-its the weather. Example-today it hit 70
2 days ago it was 35-Ohio weather is wacked and being on a lake doesnt help that. CP is opened the entire month of October this season which should be interesting since last October it hailed and snowed and was 28 degrees. (I should know-I was there WORKING on Raptor-man it was COLD!!!) I am sure this October will be no different. (I will have my thermals!!)

Living in N. Ohio, (10 miles from CP) I can tell you this: Lake Erie keeps things along the shore very cold in the spring. The lake temp affects the temperature of the air above it and a few miles inland. CP would be too cold in April to be on Lake Erie. The flip side is that it keeps the air above and a few miles inland warmer in the fall. If it wasn't for the labor shortage, CP could continue daily operations until the last Halloweekend without too many weather disasters. SFWoA is too far inland to to reap those benefits...in fact it's in the snowbelt and can get snow in October. Later

Ohio's weather definitely is not model weather. It's very fitting that there are so many roller coasters in Ohio because our weather is like a roller coaster from about October through April. It can be hot, dry, and sunny one day and then cold, wet, and just plain ugly the next day and vice versa. I believe we have one of the worst winters generally in the whole country. I would rather have the temperatures stay cold every day with snow like states such as Michigan have than to have our "wishy washy" weather that we have here in Ohio. It gets very old after a while.
Yeah living in Michigan tought be all about that.
We are surrounded by great lakes on 3 sides. I think Michigan is the only place on earth where you can get frostbitten and sunburn in the same week....no joke.
