Why do they make you leave?

I know it's park policy, but at all the Paramount Parks I've been to (all but PGA) let you stay on when nobody is riding. On Mean Streak absolutely nobody was on the red train and they still make us walk back. They ran 2 empty train cycles after us, where we would have gladly ridden on them. And yesterday I got the last rides of the night on Mantis, all 3 times they made us get off and walk back to the station where NOBODY waited. Now I know there is a "if one person does it, everyone will want to do it too" system but what if there is no "everyone?"
They let us do that the last holloweekend on Gemini.

They have to make everyone go through the turnstiles so they can calculate how many riders each ride had at the end of the season. We are really not allowed to do re-rides so that magement can have as much accurate figure of riders as possible.

"So, Thats What A Colon Looks Like."

Accurate figure...hehehe...When I went for physics day last thursday, we were sitting on a bench in challenge park, and I was observing the girl at the gate spinning the turnstile. I guess she was bored and it was something to do, but she probably added on about 50 people!

Was this before opening?if it was then all the ride ops(except GCA,Camp SNoopy and Kiddy Kingdom)have to reset their turnstiles before the rides open.If it was after opening than I have no idea why she did that.

Honestly, the counting might be a small part of it, but I don't think that's the major reason. I'd suspect that the reason is that they want to make sure every guest is treated perfectly equally. It really isn't fair for some people to have to walk around while others sit there and ride again. Take Millennium Mania for example. They were allowing re-rides during that event until a few people had to walk around since someone else was waiting for their seats and they complained. That was the end of re-rides even for Millennium Mania. I think it's about equal treatment, not counting. Counting is important at CP, but special access people are kept track of on a hand counter, why not just click the re-riders? That's what we did on Joe Cool mornings until they said no re-rides even for Joe Cool Club (when we had a measely 80 riders (probably dispatched about 1800 seats) or so in an hour on Magnum).

It's a policy.. plain and simple. Accept it... I'm sure you're not going to make the ride op's life any easier by whining about it on the platform. Rules are for everybody.. don't think you're above them.

You never know when someone was planning on getting off or something. I know at MIA (pre CF) that they let some people ride again. One lady was turned around to snap a picture and flew out. Restraints need to be checked each time. I think it's easier from a safety perspective to make everyone get off the ride. That make you 100% sure that everyone's checked.

Get with it or die in the process.....

Ya, that is probably one of the main reasons. If there's a problem with the restraints, you'll have a better chance of finding it if people keep getting out of the ride instead of staying on.

At SFOG one time, I was riding Batman with my dad, and all of the restraints unlocked right before the ride started. I wasn't sure if I was still gonna ride anything else that day. They could have opened during the ride.

I there is a health issue too. They may not want people staying on the rides then getting sick. Having a little break helps ease things.

I feel bad for the ride ops who get yelled at by guest because they won't let them stay on. Occasionally there are some who make a big deal out of it and refuse to leave. They fail to realize it's not the operator who is not letting them stay on but park policy and still take it out on them.

Whatever, it is was it is. I go to CP for a good workout. I have lost 5 pounds since opening day and I think that's from walking around Magnum and up the stairs 78 times.

It is their park, so it's their rules. Regardless of the reason(s), that is how they do it.

All rules are made for a reason, whether it be safety, or some moron doing something completely stupid.

NOFXtremeStreak, I dont know what paraomunt park you are talkin bout but at PKI almost always they make you go around. Even on Top Gun which takes about 10 min. to run around. Sometimes you will have a nice ride op and they will let you stay on. My friend and I always sneak to another seat. Most the time they see us but are nice and let us ride. Ive gotten 10 in a row on the beast.

PKD has allowed rerides every time I've been there. Six Flags parks frequently do, too (one of the few things about Six Flags I say is more intelligent than Cedar Point).

Reride policies can be so SIMPLE. If the train returns to the station (and unloads in the same place that it loads), and there's nobody waiting for your row and the station is otherwise empty, there's no good reason for that seat to go empty.

The Millennium Mania people who complained basically ruined it for everyone. They had no right to complain -- people were waiting for their seat, so they had to get off. Simple as that. For Cedar Point to cancel rerides completely based on that was an incredible overreaction to a situation that should have been easily deflected.

Actually one thing I think cp is doing something more inteligently than SF is the freeway pass system. Not only is it free but it allows you to wander the park and come back at the stamped time.Granted it is only on about 2 coasters but still it i free and very well implemented(IMO anyway)

Last year during JCC ERT, I got nine re-rides on Magnum. The first 5 rides, I was the only one on the train (talk about a bizarre feeling) riding front seat3 times and back seat twice. When some other people eventually showed up, they allowed me to move to another seat on the same train. I also got 4 re-rides on PT SS last year, and could have had more but I wanted to get over to MF. Even this year I got a re-ride on Iron Dragon. We just asked the first time and the guy said ok. After our second ride, he asked us if we wanted to go a third time. Aren't ride ops great :)

Yea, for the first few JCC sessions last year, we were allowing rerides, but unfortunately after that, word came down that we weren't allowed to do that. :( At least with only two rides open for JCC this year, there shouldn't be too many opportunities to reride anyway so it won't be an issue.

Joe- that is the reason BGW changed their reride policy to allowing 1 reride. The are afraid of someone having an anuerism or something. I was upset at first but got used to it.

"Growing up" at CP I did not know what a reride was till I went to BGW. After walking around Drachen Fire about 3 times the guy said "what are you doing? Just stay in." I think i did get some brain damage from the reride. ;)

On the other hand, every time a saw a coaster running with 1 train I found that to be unacceptable even with a short line. I think Ill take CP's great capacity over re-rides.
