Why didn't anyone tell me it was Promedica wknd??

Very short TR on our CP trip today (Sunday, July 15th).

Pulled into parking lot, only to see the lot about 3/4 full. It was then that I wasn't planning on riding anything big.

We had my dad with us, who is 82...so we mainly went to see the Ice Show (once again) for him. Some new cast for the ice show; was very good, however, we were at the 4:00 performance and their were 3 falls during this performance that ALL occurred in the same place on the ice (far right corner). We were wondering if maybe there was a bad spot on the ice?

I feel that Steven Smith (black gentleman skater) is wayyy too good to skate for CP. He has so much power and charisma on the ice. Oh well, maybe that's what they need.

Other show we saw was at the old Lusty Lil's, Molly and Maverick. Eh...kind of a cute show with a few funny parts.

Later on, we bumped into my cousin who was there and informed us it was Promedica Day! I wish I would have known....it was wayyy too busy for me. I hate being there on days like that.

Ok trip...just too busy! I wouldn't have gone had I known it was Promedica Day.

What exactly is Promedica Day?

It is when anyone who works for Promedica (which is many doctors offices, hospitals, etc.) has the opportunity to attend Cedar Point for only $20 a ticket. Promedica employees can also bring friends and family along, all for only $20 a ticket.

I would guess that no one except for promedica employees and people in group sales knew. So If you work there and they didn't tell you then I don't know what to say. If you don't work there, then there's not much you could have done. Unless you call group sales before every trip and ask if any large groups will be there.

That would be me. I could have gotten in for $20, but I've got a pass so why do that?

And since yall want warnings...

Today is a Promedica Day!
Next Sunday is a Promedica Day!
And so is next Monday!

Plan your trips accordingly, cause I know everyone in this hospital here in Sylvania is talking about going.

You went on a weekend. What did you expect? Walk-On's? Go in May on a weekday for that.

Geez. If everyone's at Cedar Point who's left to take care of the sick people??? Just kidding.

Yeah, that dude was awesome.. Did you see how built his legs were.

Thanks for the warnings, ejh....next Sunday I will be at Geauga instead...

bholcomb, YES I expect walk ons! LOL Seriously, I've been going to Cedar Point on Sundays only for YEARS. It just seems like the day to go...shorter lines, etc. If it hadn't been Promedica weekend, crowd levels wouldn't have been bad.

I have pretty much stopped going on any day other than Sunday, with the exception of an occasional jaunt through Fright Zone on a Friday or Saturday. I will hit just the waterpark during the week if the weather permits.

I hate waiting in lines, plain and simple! I don't know, maybe after 16 or 17 years of being a season passholder, I'm getting bored of CP?! Who knows...

Further proof that you can't predict crowds.

Why didn't anyone tell you it was a Promedica weekend? You never asked. ;)

Rest in Peace MrScott

Promedica. Take the "edica" part off and you have without a doubt the worst time ever to go to the park!!

Thanks for the heads up ejh1701. I went yesterday and it was quite busy, but still had a great time. Towards the 2nd half of the day the lines were not as bad. You can't always predict when it's going to be busy or not, but it's nice to know when a special promotion or get together is going on at the park.

Thanks again

I am just surprised no one mentioned it...that is, if anyone knew about it.

Our CP trip was sort of a last minute thing, so I really didn't have a chance to jump online and post questions.

Can anyone tell me if this Sunday(July29th) is a Promedica day? It looks like a nice day to go weather wise.

The ice can get rather large chips in it from toe picks from jumps, or the ice may have been wet or thin in that area. It is possible that it's just coincidence, but it does sound like the ice may have needed cut. I was very impressed at last years show with the level of talent. It takes alot of control to be able to do all they do in such a small ice area.

Good for yor dad going to the park at 82! When I'm that age, I'll be begging my boys to take me. Not to ride much I imagine, but just to be there.

Nope. It was just July 15/16, and 22/23.

Actually, our prom was on Saturday the 26th, the weekend that Maverick opened. It was one of the nicest surprises to go to the park and see Maverick up and running. And it wasn't all that crowded either, both Sunday and Monday.
