Why did they put those trim brakes on the mantis d

I think they did it two years ago, but I always wondered why they did it. I figured it was becuase of the loop, but I rode it many many times before it had those brakes and the loop seemed fine. Anyone know if thats true or not?

It was apparently pulling too many G's in the loops considering you were standing up. I remember it being very uncomfortable the first year. I enjoy riding it now, and I don't think it's that big of a deal.

I have to agree with Jeff on this one!!! It was a little uncomfortable the first year!!! But now its even better of a ride!! At least thats what I think.

I thought it was better before, same with mean streak! Of course just my opinion, That drop was much more fun before when you didnt feel the brakes. They Killed the entire Mean streak drop with those.
Well last year at times the operation of Mantis was interesting, and I am not taking about the stacking of trains. I only got about 40 lap on Mantis last season I would say maybe about ten or so of them the trims on the drop were open, yet we hit the mid-course breaks pretty hard. What I like about the trims on the drop is that when they are hit hard and you are sitting in one of the first four rows (espescially the fourth row) you get a great feeling of hangtime in the first two inversions.

I heard that it was like jeff said too many G's, but also the footers for the loop did not set right, so it was too fast. I don't quite believe the footers not setting right though.

If the footers weren't "set right" they'd have to pour new footers. The track is manufactured to very precise tolerances. The engineering journal I saw during the construction said that they get about a half-inch of play to work with.

That is what I kinda figured, to the best of my memory that is what one of the Raptor ride op's said last year, when I asked him, I do remember him now saying that there were to many G's being pulled in the loop which was mentioned.

what was the reason for adding them to mean streak, they really kill the ride i think.

All I know is that It really hurt my legs and calfs the first time I was on it. My sister had a couple ripped muscle fibers in her claf after she rode it. Whcich was during its first season
