The past 2 times I've been the park, I was not allowed to bring my souvenir cup into the line. There's bins in the station. This is BS.
Now you can't take in your drink? Unbelievable.

I wonder if they are starting to not allow the cups in any of the bins. Last time at the park on a couple of the coaste the ride ops were telling people that they had to put the cups on the ground next to the bins. I assumed they were trying to prevent the cups from getting knocked over in the bin and spilling onto other people's stuff.
My cup was empty. So it wouldn't spill anything.
I can see why you can't take it on MF and TTD, because the exit is not in the same place as the entrance. If they are banning cups on GK to get the line going faster, I don't think it would help much because GK is a high capacity ride and one of the fastest lines in the park. There is only one ride I would support banning cups or items on and that would be Maverick. The flow of that is ridiculously slow.
Your cup being empty is irrelevant. GK's has a "no loose articles" policy, and the bins are for small personal items, not loose articles.
And you have your cause-and-effect mixed up. It's arguable that the "no loose articles" policy is the cause of GK's line moving fast. Allowing your cup in line would not increase capacity, only hinder it.

It's a B&M thing, for what I understand, I've been seeing this at DB at KI quite a bit here and there being slightly enforced, also has popped up on KIC a bit as well. I bet next year with BS we'll see the same details.

Loose articles need to stay out of coaster lines. period. All they do is slow the loading and unloading process. If you feel the need to carry around crap all day, then I guess you can get a locker, that's what they are there for.

I agree with Thabto, this is BS. There is no reason why people can't put their stuff in those bins, those cups aren't much bigger than a purse. What "personal items" are allowed in there anyway? I can understand those big stuffed gorillas from the midway games but, come on! This is why I won't buy those cups, well, main reason is I don't want to carry it but it is the reason why I wear that blasted fanny pack.

I think it's to make money on locker rentals. The one time it was late in the day near closing and I thought it was to keep the line flowing. But yesterday, it was in the middle of the day and not very crowded.
The bins are there when you get on and there when you get off, what purpose do they serve? People will pick up on the fact they are being nickeled and dimed into an unnecessary locker.
I remember a couple weeks ago seeing some arguing going on about it with a group that had some backpacks, and I think the employee wasn't letting them in.

Of course there is: capacity of the bins. They're not very big.
...those cups aren't much bigger than a purse.
Again, the size is not relevant. A souvenir cup is a "loose article". That is, a souvenir cup is not a hat, pair of sunglasses, flip-flops, etc.
What "personal items" are allowed in there anyway?
Hats, glasses, flip-flops, etc. Things like that.
Why is this distinction so difficult to understand?

You know, the park really can't please some of you. When they take measures to keep GK's line moving quickly, people complain that they're being swindled into renting a locker. If they were to allow loose articles in GK's queue, the same people would be whining about how slowly the line moves (and how much worse it's made by FL).

You mean... the employee was enforcing the rules?!?!?!?!? The horror!!!

The rules don't change depending on how crowded the park is. The rules are the rules, and they're ridiculously straightforward - no loose articles in GK's queue.

I don't buy it. It takes just as much time putting a purse/hat/glasses as it does putting a backpack in there or a cup. There is no time saver there.
There are bins on almost every coaster there that we all have to put up with people using. What separates MF and TTD is that its exit is separate from the loading platform. That is not the case with Gatekeeper as well as the others.

If you're going to the park to ride the rides, don't carry around a bunch of crap with you, its that easy. I don't see the point in bringing everything you own with you. Not only is it a pain for you to carry it around, but it also slows lines considerably. Also, you have to look at the loading patterns on the rides. Gatekeeper loads and unloads from the same side. I could see that being a huge cluster if everyone was going over to the bins instead of just a few that wore their flip-flops.

That's absolutely ridiculous, and can be easily demonstrated as false simply by standing on Maverick and GK's stations for a few minutes each.
