WHY? (an editorial with much frustration)

No one that seems to know what is in the warehouse seems to want to say what is there. Is this really that big of a secret? What is it?
Well, if we are talking about the old warehouse on 1st St. I know that Merchandise and Games used the warehouse for storage.

I have never been in it but in the past you would see CP trucks loading plush animals and other stuff to be taken over to the park.

That building was pretty old and worn down so I wouldn't be surprised if the new warehouse behind Breakers Express was being used for the same. Is that new warehouse adjacent to the laundry facility?

Yes, it's the building right next to the laundry.

It's great to live in Ohio!

Yes, I did read it as a matter of fact as you so pugnaciously pointed out.

This thread seems to be lamenting the fact that some of the old rides and related articles were not properly memorialized

And I did actually address the subject yesterday through the example of scrapping an old big wonderful airplane through the use of what is essentially a big guillotine that chops completely through an airplane so it can be melted into alminium ingots.

I also expressed the opinion that I do memorialize or lament the passing of what is essentially trash. Just read my earlier post.

Brian mentioned "Billy Beer" and I expressed an opinion on the taste of that CAT P*SS in a sealed can. I still remember the taste of the vomit from that vile and evil 12 oz. can.

The whole point of his post was:

Why throw history away when there are people out there who would pay to preserve it.

No one is asking the park to maintain the world's largest historical junkyard.

Dan-What was it they got rid of that you would have liked to get? What is in there? If it was destroyed already, there isn't really much to keep secret.
Can you imagine what would turn into the worlds largest rummage sale if CP decided to sell of parts of old rides/attractions? Almost like a Big Lots or worse yet: Ames..

CP has alot of class. They dont need to ruin it by selling a whole load of what is essentially scrap steel/metal.

But if some garage-cleaning dope can turn a Scooby-Doo lunchbox into cash on EBay, there's no reason CF can't make money on sentimental dopes like us...or at least give it a try.

Oh, look--I think kjetski's dots are contagious. Achoo.............

Gentlemen, the series of dots you so flippantly refer to is properly known as an ellipsis ... I can't seem to post without one ... must ... get ... help ...

I just wanna say that I'm not ripping kjetski and I hope he understands I'm just having a little fun.

His posts have always been posts of susbstance, even when heavily coated with ellipses. I just had to laugh at myself when I realized I was reponding to an ellipsis-free post of his with a set of my own.

Wow, correct use of "ellipses", the plural form of ellipsis. Impressive. Crazy props to Mr. Playa ...

It is really too bad that CF doesn't seem to care much for preserving the history of it's parks. As an employee/guest of Dorney Park for the past 20 years it really saddens me to see what CF has thrown out over the ten years since they bought the park. Every year something goes, really makes me wish the park was still family owned, I really wonder what it would be like today if it still was. But at least theres still some traditional parks like Kennywood and Knoebles that still care about their history. I just hope that they never sell out to the corporate chains like Dorney did.

It may be a little off topic but, speaking of CP throwing out old stuff, does anyone know if the Dorney Park Sky Ride is still at the Point? I know it was still there as of August this year. Anyone know anything about it's future?

Man, what I'd do to sneak into that parking lot and take the parts to the VertiGo :)

Anden?

And then rebuild it in my backyard and make people pay to ride it.

It is just part of progress. Cedar Point doesn't have an unlimited supply of land or they would retain existing rides and then make additions. To add something there is something taken away. It is Fortunate for the enthusiasts that mostly it is something less thrilling or spectacular which leaves. Honesty, I would rather have #16 vs the German Lady. While although not as pleasant to gauk at :), it is alot more thrilling and a worthy replacement.
