Who will miss Wildwater Kingdom this summer?

Just wondering who else will miss Wildwater Kingdom this summer. Several of my friends with CP passes didn't even realize you could use your platinum pass to utilize that waterpark, but my son and I went several times every summer and really enjoyed it. The size was perfect, it was never as packed as Soak City, and it was closer to my home so we could spend a morning or afternoon there. I miss the friendly lady who greeted us at the entrance, the refillable popcorn tubs, close parking and the hours we spent at the water fort. My son loved the water guns that you could use to squirt and dump water on unsuspecting lazy river folks. I thought the layout of this park was great and will miss how easy it was to just show up and spend a day there without a lot of hassle. So long old Geauga Lake!

I will miss having a third Cedar Fair park in easy driving distance and I really liked the cove with the waterfall. but we only would go about twice per summer because I get bored at water parks after about 2 hours or so.

On the subject of WWK, does anyone know if any of its attractions have been removed, or are they still SBNO? And if they have been removed, are there plans to scrap them or relocate them to other waterparks?

Past Cedar Point visits: 10/??/11, 05/18/12, 08/8/13, 08/28/14, 08/25/15, 8/8/17, 7/30/18
Planned visits: TBD

From what I have read the park itself is still intact but a Ford dealership is buying the parking lot and land from there to the corner of the main road.

I visit for the first time last season, and there were about 8 people in the park total. It was a good time.

Those tall slides are intense. I hope they show up somewhere else in the chain.

I already miss it. It was more convenient for myself and my family and was a beautiful place. There's nostalgia there too as I spent a lot of my childhood at Sea World.

As of last week, everything was intact. Even the power to the top of the slides where the red/green lights to tell riders when to go.

The ford dealership, as of my understanding, is going on the corner of 43 and Squires (next to the WWK sign of 43). Not the actual parking lot, but I could be mistaken.

Does anyone know if it is economically feasible to relocate slide structures?

Fox 8 ran a story this week about the WWK site, detailing the Ford dealership development and possible Meijers store.

New jingle for Liberty Ford: "Liberty's in Aurora, Maple Heights, Brunswick, Parma Heights, Vermilion, uuuhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmm".

Add that to the list of things I don't miss at all since I left Northeast Ohio. That damn jingle.

Why can't they just move the funnel slide to CP SHORES? it's driving me nuts.....lol

the only cedar fair waterpark without a funnel or bowl slide......?

I'd imagine they have a really good reason not to install a bowl, if they happen to have one laying around. Horrible capacity comes to mind.

Those rides take forever on a cruise ship with barely anyone in line, I can't imagine how bad they'd be with a busy water park.

Dorney's Wildwater Kingdom also doesn't have either type of slide.

Knotts just took their funnel slide out with their remodel.

As for possible placement of the old slides. I too thought funnel slides has horrible capacity...until I went to Holiday World. Holiday World will have a tube coming down the hill before another even exists the funnel. Kings Island has the WORST capacity out of any of them in the U.S.A. I don't understand why Cedar Fair parks have a problem with this. Is it a safety thing? They do they just not have enough rafts? Why is that?

I REALLY wish/hope they move the tower slide complex. Each and everyone of those slides is some of the best in the U.S.A. The body slides are all awesome, the tube slides are all fun. No a bad slide on that thing. It makes a statement when you see it.

I was shocked when they didn't move that thing asap.

The park I see getting the most use out of it would easily be Kings Island. They have the land, and that water park suffers from VERY long lines. They need something that can eat through the lines there...it's one of the only parks I know that has a line everytime just for the lazy river! ;-)

Kings Island could also use a new splash tree house for the kids....BAD. Since there's is worn out, and majority of the "tricks" don't work on it.

It would still retain the "tallest waterside complex in Ohio" in this scenario.

I've been on a funnel slide a total of one time. I took a beautiful day to go to KI's waterpark and somehow knowing capacity would suck
I went there first, the minute they opened.
I don't see the attraction of theses slides. I thought for the action it provided it was a waste of space and particularly, structure. That huge funnel serves as a billboard, I suppose, but the riders go nowhere near most of the structure. I mean, who would spend money on a huge slide where most of it has nothing to do with the slide?
Anyway, I'd maybe prefer to try one of those Tantrum slides with smaller, enclosed, multiple funnels. They seem more interesting, at least.
And the point to all this is that I'm not sure funnel slides are worth having let alone moving.

As far as relocating slides go, remember that huge tower at WWK was moved to that spot from the Geauga side where it played for just a few seasons, if that many. I was always impressed by that slide complex and think it would be worth moving from Aurora to somewhere else. Drop slides are the flavor of the day, though, so maybe it will just stay an orphan.

(If) the funnel slide from Wildwater Kingdom doesn't get moved to CP Shores, could we possibly see the 100' Thunder Falls slides come to CP Shores down the road?

The Funnel slides CF does have are fantastic compared to the one at SFSTL. It has no lift and is somewhat comical watching a couple of 10 year olds trying to lug that huge cloverleaf raft up the tower. Until they bump you with it. But I suppose a good teamwork building exercise. :)

RCMAC perhaps you are just not fat enough like me to get the full experience. The more weight on those things the farther they go up the wall. I am a tad slimmer this year but nearly had to quit regular tube slides last summer because 80% of the time I would flip over and end up riding down on my stomach. Still can't do the mat racers because I go way to airborn and the landing is just brutal. Agree the capacity on those things is horrendous.

Same with the big family raft ride. I remember years ago water parks would fill those things with 5-6 people, these days they let two 8 year olds have one all to themselves.

Someone last year mention on here they thought a funnel could easily fit on the Renegade Rapids island. I don't see it, but CP can certain do wonders with space.

Monday, May 8, 2017 2:33 PM

Ha! Oh, I'm plenty fat enough, thankyouverymuch. In fact I shared my four person raft with my legs draped awkwardly over those of a dad and his two boys, all of whom were smaller than me. Which is what caused me to go backwards down the "big" hill, which caused me to panic slightly. I guess we went high enough up the wall for that kind of fun, but that little river that runs though the bottom of the funnel was a real butt banger. Ouch. So, no thanks.

I've decided I'm too old for water parks in general. Park me by the pool or the laziest river possible.

Theory on not relocating the body slides. They are the tallest in Ohio, perhaps they will wait to install them so they can market it as "Introducing the Tallest Water Slide in Ohio".

Enjoy the rest of your day at America's Rockin' Roller Coast! Ride On!
