Which way do you go though town?

I'm from Toledo and we take SR. 2 to 101 and follow the signs from there. Who has ventured off and found a better way though town? I know the signs are the best way Sandusky wants you to take. But is it really?

Is there any major construction on SR2, or the Ohio Turnpike? Or even on (SR?)250? I know Interstate 280 thru Toledo may cause some delays. Any other delays that someone may know of?

We take the 6 and then follow the CP signs to the park or hotel.

You can also take the Turnpike to SR 4, then follow the signs.

Coming up Rte 4, we always used to go all the way into downtown, and follow the signs from there. (grew up 30 miles south of Sandusky).

When I worked there, I found some much quicker ways that avoid the slow drive on 4 through Sandusky and the crowded roads of 250 and Rte 2.

I take Rte 4 North to Strubb Rd. It's the first light after Rte. 2. Their is a dive bar called "The Pump" on the corner. Take a right there on Strubb. You then have two options.

1. If 250 is fairly clear, take a left on 250, right on Perkins, left on Pipe, left on Cleveland (Rte. 6), Right onto Cedar Point Causeway

2. If 250 is backed up, continue on Strubb to Perkins, left on Perkins, right on Pipe, left on Cleveland (Rte. 6), Right onto Cedar Point Causeway

By taking Perkins-Pipe-Cleveland you avoid the 5 backed up lights getting to the causeway that you hit coming off of 250. Pipe isn't a light, but the next street Remington is, and you can take that in place if you want.

The Strubb into town is where I shave off most of the time. It's 45-55 mph rather than the 25-35 mph that going through town is.

I also take Pipe street to Cleveland. Very rarely but sometimes we either get stuck by a train, or traffic on Cleveland. Not enough to really worry about.

I have had the best luck taking the turnpike, exiting on 250, but instead of heading north, I head south to 13 (the first light south of turnpike). Follow 13 until you get to 2, then turn off 6 and follow it in the back way until you get to the causeway. Sure beats heading in on 250. I swear there is a new traffic light every time I go through that way.

MLEM4S Still Rules!!!

Good Morning all. I know this does not quite fit this topic but I figured
its close enough and say what the heck.
Cedar Pointers heading to the park from Michigan beware---I-280 is
going to be closed starting this Saturday.According to www.lookuptoledo.com
they are going to resume bridge construction and are closing the freeway
to thru traffic.
I know most of you use other routes then I-280 but for those of us
that do(myself included).thought I would give a heads up to you.
Have a great weekend at the park for those who are going and looking forward to
next weekend as I get my second trip there.
Well till next time--the Michigan traffic reporter signing out :)

I'm south of all of you here. I take route 8 from Akron to the turnpike of i-80. I take I-80 until I get to route 57 lorain/elyria exit and take that for 2 miles. I then take route 2 all the way to erie county where I get off on the rye beach road exit. Once I get off there I take route 6 and follow the signs. Time for me to get there is about an hour and a half.
