Which resort?

Please help us decide between Breakers, Sandcastle, and Lighthouse. We're a family of 5 (3 teenagers), need a non-smoking room, we want to be able to walk to the park, want to be relatively close to the beach, need a refrigerator and coffee maker, other kitchen items would be a bonus but not required. Discount park tickets would also be great. All 3 are close in price, we're just not sure which would be the best choice. Suggestions?

I've only stayed at Breakers. Its got the shortest walk of the 3 and is right on the beach front. If access to the beach is a big thing to you, that's probably the way you'll want to go.

Lighthouse provides a bit more privacy, and you get your own grill so you can cook instead of buying overpriced park food every meal.

I don't know about fridge availability, I think it says in the room descriptions. I know they all include coffee makers.

All 3 are within walking distance, with Breakers being closest. There are shuttle stops at all 3 that can take you to any entrance (except the beach entrance) so if you don't want to walk all the way from LHP to the Magnum gate, you can get a ride (or visa versa in the evening.) From Breakers, it isn't worth waiting for the ride.

I hope this helps some. I am going to be staying at LHP this summer, but there are 6 of us going, and that's the only place that can accomodate 6 people. Everywhere else can accomodate up to 5 in one room (with roll-away).

Sandcastle is nice, too. It has it's own pool and as far as I know has it's own beach, too. Tends to be a little quieter there, plus you're right close to the turn around on Magnum. (one year we requested "magnum view") All the rooms there are suite type rooms and it just might be ideal for your group.

I have stayed at breakers and loved it every time. Breakers express is nice, but does not have the convience of being in the park. Castaway bay is good as well, but again is not in the park. I have never stayed at sandcastle before. I have always heard that it has an "outdated feel" to it.

I think that your best bet would be breakers, it is the closest to the park and meets all of the other needs you have. Its also located right on the beach and has restaurants located within it.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I would definately chose Breakers, but I haven't stayed in Lighthouse Point before. Breakers is much closer though.

Lighthouse Point is awesome, it has its nice little environment within the amusement park, I loved it.

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

After seeing every room possible in the whole Cedar Point Resort complex.... this is what i can tell you ...

Number one... youre going to want to go with a suite. End of story.

I would suggest an HNS2Q - standard suite at HB with coffee maker, fridge and microwave.

Another room i would suggest is the HS3D
Room with two bedrooms and sitting room with bathroom.

Its in the older section of the hotel and is in the smoking section, however the room is very spacious, you get an amazing view of the beach and pool. Check and see if its available, its VERY popular...

Lighthouse point probably wouldnt do you well, its just not THAT large and its not exactly a 'close' walk to the gate.

Sandcastle, same room as at HB... pool, no beach access.

Well you can get $100 off Breakers over 2 night this year... Order a getaway guide and you get a free rollaway. I've can't remember what my stay was like, but I stayed there when I was 4. I'll be staying again May 6-8th. *** Edited 4/20/2005 9:53:59 PM UTC by MForce310***

At the turn of the Millennium, there were signs. Was the something out there?... A mysterious force at work? Beyond words. Beyond comprehension. Beyond, beyond beyond… A natural force simply known as, Millennium Force. The future is riding on it.…

I have made many trips to Sandusky over the 43 years I have been on this planet (camping--outside the park, camping inside the park, hotels out side the park, hotels inside the park, day trips). The BEST way to enjoy Cedar Point (for me) has been Lighthouse Point.

And if you are concerned about walking, Resort Guests have free use of the CP Shuttles (Don't forget to tip your driver!) Lighthouse Point is A CP Resort. You can cut food costs (and parking) by at least 75% by staying there.

MrScott, who is there May 13-15!

Oh I am glad to here that. I will be spending two nights at Lighthouse Point in June. It will be my first time at Lighthouse point. I just hope I can snag a few runs in on Dragster before the park opens.( I love being a CP resort guest)

Coaster Count: 147

Lighthouse point gets my vote. I have stayed there twice with my 4 kids, ages 11 through 16, and we all loved it. Get the cabin with the loft and have the kids bring there sleeping bags, my kids had a ball sleeping up there. You can walk right over to the Magnum entrance in the morning, shortest RUN to Dragster, LOL.

First trip June 23rd

I said it before and I'm sure I'll say it again...Lightouse Point is the BEST way to enjoy Cedar Point.

Do the cabins and cottages at lighthouse point have bathrooms and showers in them, or is it a community shower and bath house ?

Each cabin or cottage is self contained and has it's own bathroom and shower. There are also community bathrooms available, mainly as a service for the campground. Not needed as a Lighthouse Point guest, but there if you want to use them.
