Which day should we go??? July 8th or 9th

Hello, 1st post. I need help asap!

I just read in the general FAQ section that the least crowded days are in order: Saturday, Wednesday/Monday/Friday/Thursday/Tuesday/Sunday.

Is Sunday really less crowded than Monday. I have a big group from Texas coming up and we are planning on going on Monday because we assumed it would be less crowded, but now I see Sunday as being better. Sunday is much better for my schedule. With the 4th of July being earlier in the week do you think Sunday will still be better than Monday or at least equal. I don't want my family to disown me if its a madhouse on Sunday.

Thanks a bunch,

from Texas

Both.

Yeah, I know I know, but we only have 1 day. We have a big family reunion in Defiance on Friday and Saturday. Sunday would be perfect to go, but a lot of us have been to Disney and the weekends there are heck! Some of us have to drive back to Texas. I am flying out of Chicago on Tuesday, so the sooner I get back there the better also.

So if Sunday is really not that bad, and in fact better that would be awesome:) Any idea why Sunday would be better than any weekday???

Sunday is the day to go. It is pretty much the ONLY day we go.

I would highly recommend it over any other day. Period.

As for your question about why it's better than a weekday...the only thing I can think of is that maybe Sunday a day for church, family reunions, cottages, etc. As a kid, my family never used to go on Sundays because of those reasons, and now as an adult, it's the ONLY day I say to go!

Monday isn't good because people sometimes take a "long weekend" (take a Monday off of work) to go to CP.

I wouldn't say that a Monday is any less busy that Sunday at this point. But it's July, so it's hard to predict. But if Sunday works better for your schedule, then I'd say go on Sunday.

I was there yesterday, and it was moderately busy, but not terrible.
Wait times for Maverick was and hour +, MF/TTD were around an hour (when they weren't down). Other rides shouldn't be nearly as long. Plan to get there as early as possible so you can get right in at 10 when the park opens. I would even suggest parking in the Soak City lot and start in the back of the park.

Maverick will get busy fairly quickly, so you might want to start there and work your way back up to the front.

You're getting into the time of year where it doesn't really matter. In general, there are some patterns, but any given day, with any given weather, and any given load from group sales, and you'll have factors that will trump those patterns. That's why rule #1 is, "you can't predict crowds."

This time of year you're better off picking which day is best for you and worrying more about smart strategies like getting to the park before it opens. Other tips available here.

Thanks for the replies:)

We will shoot for Sunday...

With all my contacts in MI telling me how bad the economy is there, has that (generally) slowed the crowds down at all compared to previous years?

I hear you diehards that one should strategize a given visit. However, I want to strategize when I go as well.

Thanks for all the helpful suggestions, hoping to get back in late July for a TTD & MF fix!

Huh...I may have met these people. I live in Defiance and they may have come in to where I work. I sometimes bring up Cedar Point to make conversation with customers, but since I found out these people were from Texas I figured they'd have no idea what I was talking about.

Anway, I don't really think the economy has slowed the crowds any, in fact the park seems more crowded this year than any of my trips this year. Alot of it could be that Maverick is a bigger draw than MaxAir or Skyhawk were. As far as strategizing, at this point in the season, there's really no strategy. Until mid-August everyday will probably be busy.

We ended up going on Monday instead. Got there a little after an hour after opening also a bad idea. It was hot ~100 degrees superlong lines for MF, Maverick, TTD, and disastor transport of all things (1hr+) plus wife couldn't fit on them. Gemini and Magnum were walk ons which was nice. Will try again in a few years..
