Which Coaster??

This is a tuffy. I would have to say...Jr. Gemini, lol.

MF Rides-14
Oh dear, sounds like a Cedar Point version of survivor...which coaster will be voted off the peninsula next!:)

If I had to choose, I would go with Disaster Transport. The ride is okay, but a huge warehouse-type building doesn't seem to look right at its location by the lake. But I would only choose to eliminate that only if I had to, becuase I still enjoy the ride. *** This post was edited by CDCoolguy on 8/25/2000. ***
I take it the people voting to get rid of Jr. Gemini and the CCMR dont have kids. I thought the same thing until I had a child. Now I am glad the kid coasters are out there.
Chitown,

It's true, I don't have any children. But I'm not saying they should get rid of it because it's a children's coaster; I'm saying they should get rid of it because it's a really dull children's coaster! Admittedly it's been a long time since I rode it (at least 15 years?) but I seem to recall that it has as much thrill factor as the carousel, only without the pretty artwork. :) Heck, if they razed it and built a better kids' coaster, that'd be OK by me! (I haven't ridden Woodstock Express, but it sounds like it might be an improvement on the Jr. Gemini.) Anyway, this is all just hypothetical -- I'm not itching to see the Jr. Gemini get the axe, but if I HAD to pick one, that'd definitely be my pick.
Thats cool Carousel Rabbit. But when you have a small child to bring to a park you are happier when they have alot of kid rides. (Coaster or flat ride.) You have to please everybody that enters a park. But I do see your side of it.
This is meandering a bit off topic, but I should add that I do think it is good for the park to have a variety of rides for people of all levels of bravery. The Mine Ride was the first roller coaster I ever worked up the courage to go on, and without that intermediate step, I doubt I would ever have ridden the Iron Dragon. (I still have not ridden very many of the CP coasters. Please, don't point and laugh! You can't imagine the years of working myself up it took just to get myself on the Wildcat!) :) So, I hope CP doesn't start getting rid of all their tamer coasters and flat rides.
Heh, this topic is a perfect demonstration of why CP probably won't be removing any coasters in the near future, at least (unless DT is in the way of the boardwalk project or something). Every coaster that someone wants to yank, someone else wants to keep ;)

Actually, WE is more of an improvment on CCMR. Much more exciting than Jr. Gemini ever was!

A bad day at CP is better than a good day at work.
If I HAD to pick one coaster to go, it would have to be Corkscrew. Out of all the Arrow creations at the Point, this one is the most painful and gets only 1 ride out of me per season.
The only reason to tear down a coaster would be to make room for another. Therefore, there is no reason to get rid of CCMR, since a "good" new coaster needs a larger footprint than CCMR. Same reason for DT. Unless you WANT a Boomerang or something equally dated, all of these so-called boaring rides are at least original, and therefore worth keeping.

That being said, yank the Mean Streak, there is alot of land which a dueling / racing woodie could be built. Call it the Double Streak. It would up the coaster count and get rid of CP's "don't-ask-don't-tell roller coaster.

Recycle The Mean Streak!
Hey, I LOVE Mantis, no one's tearing it down. No one's tearing down the Force, and Corkscrew isn't going to likely go because of it's prime real estate.

I would not mind in the least bit seeing Disaster Transport going, or the Mine Ride (because of Woodstock's Express).

Ban(shee Man)tis, what's not to get...?
Petree: I voted for Mantis because:

1) stand-up is gimmick and adds nothing to the ride for me.
2) I despise 4 across seating
3) I despise the colors
4) I despise the location. That was a nice wooded area that was a good entrance way to the frontier trail. Paddlewheel took a beating with that too
5) I think B&M produce the ugliest coasters ever created, In fact, I don't care much for the looks of *any* steel coaster but those tubular supports on B&M are just obscene.
6) It just doesn't say "coaster" to me. I look at it and see a generic ride.

Raptor, while also ugly, is fun to ride so I'll spare it my wrecking ball! I suppose Mantis is worth a ride or two every so often but not worth waiting in line for.
Really? I love the colors and location of Mantis.
Jr. Gemini should go. A better kid's ride could be built.

Gravity knows no force like Millennium Force!
Oh Joe I would have to disagree with you. Mantis may present a little groin pain but it's still fun. To me the colors would fit in with the name Banshee better because a mantis of course is green. Mantis' location is perfect for that kind of coaster, what do you think of MF being right by the Frontier Trail's entrance? Anyway I look at it I still think Mantis has a great design and pace to make it a spot on the top 25 list.

Got The Po!nt?

Joe, you don't like Mantis. That's one of the coasters I don't miss while at the PO!NT!! It is a great ride with some great directional changes and awesome inversions. It's twice as good in the front, hard to describe but just a heck of a lot of fun. I would DEFINATELY spare Mantis. In fact, it didn't even cross my mind that it's destruction was thought of by others!!!!

B&M is a great design firm. They've built some of the greatest steelies. I don't find them ugly either. Do you favor box supports instead?? (Magnum, MF) I don't think the tubular supports are bad, they're fine.
CP Bound: I've always thought the colors were a little bright for it's woodsy/watery location, more of a county fair style look. Maybe Mantis and Raptor should switch color schemes.

Coast: Mantis doesn't *hurt* me, just that the standup feature doesn't really add much extra fun to the ride, sit down would be easier and besides, don't we stand in line long enough? Who wants to continue standing on the ride? I think MF really didn't detract from the Frontier Trail. If anything, it breathed new life into that area. I think they did a great job on the area where the tracks cross the trail.

MFistheBEST: Yes, it is an interesting ride sometimes but I only need to ride it once per visit. Actually, it never crossed my mind that some people would want to get rid of Wildcat! B&M knows how to design some quality rides but I like more traditional designs and even MF *looks* more traditional then Mantis (except for the height).

That little curvy dip around to the first drop after the lift really annoys me. It looks like a giant Spacewarp set. I must admit though that the new entrance to Mantis is a vast improvement over the previous one over the tracks.

Sorry to offend all the Mantis lovers!
Anyway, what do I know? I actually enjoy Mean Streak!
Disaster Transport, Mine Ride, Iron Dragon in that order.
DT, although it is one of the fw coasters at cp i have never riden, thats because the wait was as long as raptors when i was there and all i have heard is negative reviews about it being short and poorly upkept for special effects. Besides a big ugly building with a 12E on the side probably wont go along well next to the boardwalk project
Would the little MS model in the Town Hall Museum count? I've always dreamed of how much fun it would be to take a match to it.
